Ewa-Marine D-AX overview

  • 1Description

The Ewa-Marine D-AX Housing is an economical solution for using your Fuji Finepix 4900, 6900, or F602 cameras near or at the water's surface, manufactured from double laminated PVC and with an optical glass port.  It is rated for dives of up to 100' (30 m) depth; perfect for snorkeling, shallow diving, or generally sandy, dusty, and humidity weather conditions.  The D-AX gives your Fuji Finepix camera the best possible protection while being fully operable.  When not in use, it is relatively light and takes up little space.

A pair of non-corrosive and seawater resistant clamping rails fit together for sealing, tightened by knurled screw knobs.  The D-AX allows the attachment of most common shoe-mounted flashes to the top of your Finepix.

The D-AX housing is made to fit the Fuji Finepix 4900, 6900, and F602 digital cameras, but will also fit cameras and lenses with flashes that are smaller than 5.9 x 9.4 x 4.7-6.7" (150 x 240 x 120-170mm) WxHxD.

An Ideal Near-the-Surface Solution
The Ewa-Marine housing's perfect for use at or near the water's surface, such as in sailing or snorkeling, but is also practical for protection from harsh weather conditions
Bellowed to Work with AF
The ribbed, bellowed section of the housing allows fore and aft movement of the lens during its autofocusing action
Double Laminated PVC Construction
Long lasting housing solution that is easy to maintain and packs in minimal space
Non-Corrosive Clamping Rails
The non-corrosive and seawater resistant clamping rails are secured by knurled thumb screws
Packs up Tight
This housing takes a minimum of space when collapsed
Allows Shoe-Mounted Flash
You can attach typical shoe-mounted flashes to your Finepix camera and they will function perfectly in the D-AX housing

    Ewa-Marine D-AX reviews

D-AX Underwater Housing is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from FAILED FIRST TIME USE I purchased this item in May 9th, specifically for a trip to a remote location 4000kms away in Western Australia for a swim with Whale Sharks. I also bought a new EOS M5 camera (through a local source) to complement the underwater housing. I followed the instructions and tested the unit when received, and it was air tight. I travelled to the location, and again tested the unit - this time there was a small pin-hole leak at the top RHS of the sealed bag. Given the imminent nature of the swim (the next day) I decided to repair the unit with a small amount of marine grade silicon glue. I checked the unit the next day in the swimming pool - no leaks. I went out on the dive, with the camera carefully mounted and sealed in the unit ready for the snorkelling event. Within 100 metres of leaving the boat, the housing starting showing bubbles from the LHS of the unit at which point I noticed a pool of water had entered the bag and was puddling around the new camera. Shortly after the camera failed. The brand new housing had developed a 2cm split in a new area in the upper sealed part of the housing and water was flooding in. I now have a ruined $1000 camera body and a water 'proof' housing which is useless and untrustworthy. I had my concerns over this product, and had read positive reviews so decided to give it a go. I had no idea it could fail so quickly and within minutes of it's first use. I have lodged a warranty enquiry against EWA-Marine (B&H wouldn't assist, as it was over 30 days), and there has been no response so far. Extremely unhappy with this purchase.
