Kowa TSN-601 overview

  • 1Description

Kowa's angled-viewing TSN-601 60mm Spotting Scope has been engineered to give you a powerful observational tool that is easy to use and resistant to most weather conditions, yet light enough that it won't weigh you down. Its performance begins with a large 60mm objective lens and fully multi-coated optics that work together to produce bright and clear, high-contrast images with accurate color rendition. The eyepiece holder is set at a 45° angle to the optical tube, which places it at a comfortable angle whether you're standing, sitting, or lying prone while observing. To help compensate for the difficulty many experience when trying to locate a subject with angled scope bodies, Kowa integrated an aiming sight line on the optical tube, so you can get observing faster—especially when using high-magnification eyepieces.

The lightweight housing is nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be water and fogproof in all but the most punishing conditions, and a piece of dust-protection glass inside the eyepiece holder ensures dust and dirt won't contaminate the optical tube when you're changing eyepieces. A retractable sunshade extends forward to prevent reflected glare from interfering with your vision and also keeps rain and snow off the objective lens if the weather turns. This version of the TSN-601 is offered here without an eyepiece so you can decide which compatible Kowa fixed magnification or zoom eyepieces are right for your needs and pick them up separately.

    Kowa TSN-601 reviews

TSN-601 60mm Spotting Scope (Angled Viewing, Requires Eyepiece) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent piece of optics equipment Excellent piece of equipment, which I use for high power rifle competition. i can actually make out 223 sized impact holes at 300 yards (if there are not too many previous impact pasters already on the target). I use this scope body with the Kowa TSE-17HD LER eyepiece and eyepiece protector. Very happy with this purchase and upgrade to my equipment for rifle competition and hunting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value for the price I purchased this spotter primarily for hunting - my budget was not huge, and mostly I needed something light weight for back country treks that was still capable of producing good image quality. This is the first spotter that I have owned, so I don't really have a baseline to compare it to. Overall, I am quite pleased with it. It is very light, easy to set up, and easy to line up. I enjoy the angled eyepiece a lot, I find it very comfortable to use. The only complaint I have really is that I would have preferred the 66mm objective scope rather than the 60mm - in low light like early morning or late evening scenarios I think the 66mm would perform better. However, I am still quite happy with it overall. The image is still plenty clear enough for me. The fact that it has a lifetime warranty is nice too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent optics for it's price With its 45 degrees angled view combined with a long eye relief eyepiece, this scope is great as a shooting scope for prone shooting. With the right tripod, you can set it up for spotting shots without even lifting your head from the rifle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scope I bought this scope to replace a previous, less expensive, one. This one worth every panny

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb quality, reasonable price I use the spotting scope exclusively for target shooting, so high resolution is critical. Paired with the 20-60X zoom eyepiece, I can easily see .223 holes in the black at 200 yards under a variety of lighting conditions when the eyepiece magnification is set at 45X or higher. I wear glasses, and don't have a full field of view at that magnification, but that's not important for my purposes, which include being able to grab a quick look at the target during the rapid fire stages of high power rifle matches. The 25X LER eyepiece is easier to use (and less expensive) and gives a full field of view for those of us who wear glasses, but I think the 25X magnification limits the effectiveness of the spotting scope at ranges beyond 100 yards. The scope/eyepiece combination holds its clarity/resolution/focus up to at least 55X. I've compared it side by side with the Kowa 82SV scope, and cannot discern any difference in resolution, only brightness, and the brightness of the 601 scope body is very good and fully meets my needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good! I've only used this at 100 yards ,for .54 caliber holes ,but looks great so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Spotting Scope! Great scope for birding; not too heavy but still pulls in crystal clear images. Easy to use and find objects with angled viewing. (B+H price reduction brings it home at less cost than a used one on auction sites.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Yes I would buy this product again. This is what I was looking for, not too expensive and doing the job.
