Photoflex OctoDome3 Large Reviews

Possible minor struggle constructing softbox on location.

Quite large as one might suspect, takes some effort to put together, at least for the first time. Material flaps with velcro stips are well built, just a very tight fit when slipping poles into strobe ring, this might vary as I used a pro-photo ring which was very tight fit, having to push down the softbox with front facing the floor. You can appease this buy releasing the light poles velcro straps at the other end. Yet this might prevent the velcro strap to fit across the pole due to such extreme tension. Best to have high ceilings to get the best out of this large box. White outer face has stitching that runs across the top & bottom.

Despite being a bit of a pain to put together it gives a great soft, beautiful quality light!

Great for portraits. you only need one soft box, plenty of space, and perhaps a 1000w strobe flash. tow or more are needed to assemble the light box

Love it

I bought this 7 foot octobox to use for a full length fashion shoot and to impress my friends. This product excelled in both aspects. I was slightly wary of how the quality of the material/manufacturing was going to be, but upon receiving it and setting it up I see that this thing is built to last... the rods are heavy duty and will likely never break and the material itself is outstanding. The lighting it creates is put simply AMAZING. I know other reviewers have mentioned this, but it really is much larger than you are possibly imagining... you will in fact need a good sized studio.

Great Octodome!

I've had this Octodome for at least 4 years now, always been used in the studio. It gives out a soft broad light and is perfect for fashion shoots. I love how Photoflex included liners and you don't have to buy them separately. I mostly use the silver for my shoots. Coupled with the grid it's one of my main modifiers. The only problem I have with it is that it get's heavy, especially if you add the grid. Even for a Profoto D4 head, it will creep down. So I had to clamp it directly on the speedring and then attach it to the stand. I used to have a White-Lightning 1600Ws attached to it full time, but the mount on that light would just give up. I probably would not buy this product again, but If I have to and if money is a bit short then I will. All in all a great value for the money and the quality is great!

I love the light output

I've been waiting for this for a while now and I'm so excited to have it. It's everything I imagined it to be and needed. The light is beautifully soft and wraps around my subjects nicely.

Its ok.

There aren't many options for 7' light banks. Considering the price differential, I can make do with this one. the build quality isn't the best but the light is nice.

The Godox AD400 Pro comes with a Bowens adapter. to use the Photoflex OctoDome3 Softbox (Large, 7' Diameter) with that setup you need a Bowens speedring like this, https://bhpho.to/3kfWYe7 .

Is this compatible with the Godox QT1200IIIM Flash Head?

This softbox does not come with a speedring. If you use a Bowens mount speedring then it would work.

question

This softbox will not stay attached to my strobe. I have purchased the recommended speed ring and it still does not work. If it is bumped in anyway it pops off. Does anyone else have this issue?
Asked by: Kellie C.
I have a speedright that has a threaded hole in the perimeter. I threaded in a brass spigot that is fitted into a heavy metal umbrella style pivoting umbrella holder. The light hangs off the umbrella and is safety wired to the stand. Has been fine for 2 years but I will be swapping out the brass spigot for a solid steel one during the corona virus shut down. Just in case.
