AV Toolbox AVT-8710 Overview

The AVT-8710 is a multi-system time base corrector/frame synchronizer that accommodates most NTSC, PAL and SECAM video signal standards. It eliminates picture jitter and time base errors from videotape playback and ensures a stable on-screen image through the use of dual-field full-frame reconstruction. It restores distorted or misshapen vertical and horizontal sync and color burst signals.

An integral processing amplifier allows the adjustment of Brightness, Contrast, Color Saturation, Hue and Sharpness. A digital comb filter provides superior video signal decoding and the AGC (Automatic Gain Control) ensures a proper 1V output signal from an input signal range of 0.5 to 2.0 volts. A built-in color bar generator sends out a test pattern when there is no video input. The unit has composite video and S-Video in and out and comes with an external 15VDC power adapter.

question

I am interested in the AVT-8710 Time Base Corrector.(a) I am in New Zealand 230v can I have an AC adaptor for the 8710?I have been advised that the older green model with black trim is a better choice than the all-black or blue units? Do you have a green model in stock?
Asked by: Hans
This is the only mode of the AVT-8710 that we have available. However it is an NTSC, PAL and SECAm TBC. It will be multi-voltage as well as it is designed to work with different standards, so you may just need a basic adapter for the AC Power.https://bhpho.to/2kLhpeR

question

I'm transferring Hi8 video via firewire to a computer. The image on the top is bending and the very bottom of the image has lines. i can crop the bottom but the picture bend at the top is really annoying. I can go SVideo into this and then into a Sony DVMC-DA2 Media Converter I have. Will this fix that issue?
Asked by: Anonymous
In most cases it has fixed those issues for me.

question

Trying to digitize old 3/4 tape using a Canopus ADVC-100 analog-to-Firewire converter, but the video signal is poor. I assume I need some sort of TBC before the Firewire conversion. Will this work in this case?
Asked by: James
Sometimes with older analog gear a TBC is required before the digital conversion. The AVT-8710 is a great choice if a TBC is required with gear that has either a Composite or S-Video output.

question

Can the floor bars be turned off so that black is output when there is no video?
Asked by: Anonymous
No, there s no way to turn off the color bars when the device is not passing video. It's very annoying but otherwise this unit works great.

question

We it help stop out of sync audio when going from analog to digital?
Asked by: Malcolm N.
The AVT-8710 is only able to correct timing on an analog video stream - such as a VHS tape that has stretched. It will not help with audio sync issues.

question

Will it output S-Video if I input Composite?
Asked by: Miguel P.
Yes it will. Whether it be Composite or S-Video for input, it can be either for output.
