Kodak Gold 400 reviews

GC/UltraMax 400 Color Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 117.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite cheap film! I tried a roll just because I was out of Ektar and Portra. The end result surprised me to the point that I bought 10 more rolls and started taking multiple portraits outdoors. The color is beautiful, the leaves, grass, flowers, and skin tones come out beautifully, and the grain is pretty small despite the film being ISO400. I am ordering more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My Preferred Inexpensive Film I am relatively new to film but I've shot about 40 rolls in the last 2 months and experimented with at least three major cheap color films: 1. Fuji Superia 400 2. Lomo 400 3. Kodak Max 400 I shoot street style stuff and this is my daylight film. I switch to B&W at night. The short synopsis is Fuji = very saturated color with a slightly cool base. Lomo = Magenta cast to everything, not particularly sharp or contrasty. Kodak = warmish, sharp and contrasty enough for me. I like the response in lower light better than either the Fuji or Lomo. Lomo, especially seems to do worse for me in lower light. While on this learning curve, I think I'm going to stick with the Kodak. As my eye develops I might upgrade to the pro grade films but for cheap color film, the Kodak is good enough and the best of these three.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Vibrant, perhaps too much so Somewhat disappointed with this Kodak color film, that I recently used in conjuction with Kodak Ektar 100, a much more pleasing film. Colors are vibrant and not particularly natural looking, but certainly give a distinctive look. I found this film easy to overexpose and lacking in latitude. Grain is average for 400 speed film. If you are looking for a relatively highly saturated and rich look, you will find this film to your taste but it is not to mine. It does, however, lend itself to artistic use of strong color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GC 135-36 Gold Max 400 Color Print Film This is a very good film for all lighting conditions and cameras. It can be used to take fast action photos in dark lighting conditions and make the photos look great with little distortion or light streaks from giving objects. I bought several rolls of this film and have used one already. I first used about a third of the 36 exposures during the day in mountain scenes in the nearby mountains surrounding Las Vegas Nevada, where I live. The remaining of the roll was used at night in an area of downtown Las Vegas Nevada that was well lit All of the photos came out sharp and were of excellent quality. I would recommend this film to anyone at any time. It is one that I will want to use time and time again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyable and inexpensive film I just ordered 20 rolls of this great film for an upcoming trip to San Francisco! I am a digital photographer who started experimenting with film recently after college. The price is right. For a couple of dollars, I won't be too unhappy if I lose a roll or two in a new camera I am testing. The tones are good. I think it runs a little on the warmer / greener side, but it is easy to adjust the scans in Lightroom so that is not a worry of mine. I love everything about this film, especially for the price!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best Cheap Film Ever This film is a great budget film. It photographs nicely overexposed by a stop. I had a great experience at the park with one roll and then again in the rain on another.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing film without the high price! I have shot both Fuji Superia Xtra 400 and Kodak Max 400 and I find that I tend to like the Kodak much better. It has a subtle warm feeling to it that I find very pleasing. The colors seem to be a better representation of what I see in real life. I have my film developed and scanned a ... (for the time being) and the colors from the Kodak film seem to be very accurate without needing a custom scan. This is a very good film for general shooting when you don't know what you will encounter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding, timeless product Used in a Nikon SLR. Came recommended to me from my grandfather who has been involved in photography for most of his life. B & H made selection and checkout incredibly easy and the product arrived in the same week I ordered it, just before a roadtrip where it was needed. Highly recommend, incredible results.
