Matthews RoadRags II Fabric Reviews

Beware: the card in package, it will transfer to the fabric

I use the Road Rags regularly and have added extra frames and fabrics. When I pulled out the extra white fabric, I noticed a card inside and the ink transferred to the fabric. I tried dish soap and Oxy cleaner but nothing takes the ink out. Suggestions?

For a more complex interview situation (in video), having a few of these is very useful.

Great diffusion and so portable!

I love how portable this item is for location shoots! I only gave it four stars because you need to be sure that assistants are aware of the velcro strips sealing the bag together. If the scrim is laid across the velcro it will destroy the fabric mesh when you pull it loose. Still can't beat how lightweight and handy this is for location!

RoadRags to Riches

I've been in video production for 14 years. Over time I've accumulated more gear than I care to mention, but the older I've gotten the wiser I've become. I've embraced the essence of gear that is portable: items that take less footprint to store in my studio and minimal packing space to transport. I operate out of a small mini-van and I only buy gear that allows me to fit everything in it so I don't have to foot a note on a huge production truck. The RoadRags Silks fit that bill and if that weren't enough, they're simple to use. I like the RoadRags system that--with enough frames--you have the flexibility to build flags, silks, scrims on site quickly and then easily pack them up in a small case and head home. Anything that helps make my job simple and easier is well worth the price. You can't go wrong with this set-up.

Makes Any Light Look Beautiful

I've seen a ton of lighting tutorials and demos of silks, but just holding this near a person's face in a normal room drastically changes the light qualityin a great way. While this can greatly enhance a controlled lighting setup, it's also amazing for quick interviews or shots where location lighting is hard and causes horrible or distracting shadows on faces. Just put this above a head and you've got amazing, soft light. Even for quick iPhone photos! (sample attached)

I have two of these in my RoadRags kit, and I use them constantly to soften lights both for photography and videography.
