Lowel Pro 66 overview

  • 1Description

This is a Lowel Rifa eX 66 Pro Kit, LB-40 Soft Case--a two-light kit. It is built around the Pro-light focus flood, and the Rifa eX 66 softbox light. It includes bulbs, gel frames, gels, light stands and an LB-40 soft case.

Compact, lightweight, and self-contained, the Rifa-lite eX 66 uses a simple umbrella-like design to achieve its quick and easy set-up and strike capabilities. Optional adapters allow use with fluorescent, or tungsten photoflood bulbs.

With its high-intensity #2 reflector and prismatic glass, the tiny focusable Pro-light is more efficient than a Fresnel of equal wattage, yet it gives an exquisite even light, with Fresnel-like shadow quality. It can be used as a low-level key light or accent light, fill light (with diffusion), or backlight. In addition to a wide variety of customizing accessories, its versatility can be increased by adding a DC adapter cable and swapping its bulb for use as a camera-top fixture.

This kit is equipped for use with 120 AC voltage. It can function with 220-240VAC, and 12-30VDC with the appropriate bulbs and adapter plugs or cables (available separately).

Use the Pro-light as a low-level key light or accent light, fill light (with diffusion), or backlight
Use the gels and barndoor set to alter the light output of the Pro-light
The kit case holds it all safely, including the light stands, for storage and transport

Lowel Pro 66 reviews

Rifa eX 66 Pro Kit, LB-40 Soft Case is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convenient and efficient The Rifa design makes for quick and easy deployment while everything in the Rifa/Pro kit, including stands, collapses into a light-weight, surprisingly compact carrying case. The Rifa light performs beyond our expectations. We use the 750w to key interviews--with the 40 degree egg crate it's really controllable. With the standard diffuser, it's enough to provide base light or green screen illumination for 2-3 people. The Pro light at 200w is amazing. The included lens optimizes the focus capability (A knob on the side of the lamp body moves the bulb forward and back). The package has a good assortment of useful accessories. All together, a great value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good Start This is a great basic lighting set up. I use it for interview all the time. The softbox is a good key light and the V-light is good to add either a back light or use with a bounce to highlight one side. More lights are needed of course, but if you are beginning this will get the job done. The Rifa Ex-66 is the best Lowel product I have used. It puts off a good amount of light, on par with most non-studio field use lights, and the interchangeable socket is useful for a documentary filmmaker who needs control when so little is available. The gels that are included come in very handy and are much more than most light kits offer. The only bad thing is the soft case will not hold up. I've had mine half a year and the straps are beginning to tear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice lights, but a little pricy The lights are nice, and the Rifa is definitly a solid softbox, but I can't justify the 1k price tag for them. It seems like you're paying alot for what you get. The diffusion of the rifa is great, and the pro is a nice little backlight. You can add another smaller rifa to the kit as a fill and you've got a nice 3light kit. ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic.. Perfect little beginner pack to build on. Easy to set up and lightweight for this girl. Logical and consumer friendly by design. I was blown away by the power literally jumping when I flipped the switch. So glad I got this, I really worried for months over a lesser pack. This is the bomb. ... Always a pleasure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent design and works great The setup is quick and easy and the package is light weight . I usually leave my bigger light kit home now. The only negative is that I would rather a completely detatchable AC cable rather than the 2-part thing Lowel uses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great kit solid kit contains all the extras I like this one better than the rifa ex88 because it comes with CTB gels and you don't need such huge gels I recommend getting the flo adapter and an egg crate

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Light Kit for Small Crew We have enjoyed using this kit so much, we bought a second one! The entire kit is easy to travel with, even as a carry-on for air travel. We've been using the kit in small and medium spaces, and only on the hottest days do you notice the extra heat. The smaller Pro Light is great as a hair light or for accenting background highlights.
