Linhof 71086H overview

  • 1Description

The Heliopan 86mm Screw-in Rubber Lens Hood is designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering a lens by extending and shading its front end. This prevents lens flare and improves image contrast. In addition, since the end of a lens is extended when using a hood, you also get the benefit of extra protection from accidental impact to that lens's front element.

This lens hood is constructed with a rubber compound that is UV and temperature resistant, and the rubber material can be rolled back for storage or to convert the hood for use with wide-angle lenses. By rolling back the lens hood, its opening can be made to correspond with a wide-angle lens's angle of view so that vignetting is avoided.

A metal mounting ring connects the hood to a lens with 86mm filter threads and a 0.75mm thread pitch. The mounting ring also features corresponding 86mm front filter threads which can be used to accommodate filters, lens caps, or other threaded accessories.

  • Fits lenses with 86mm filter threads and a 0.75mm pitch
  • Blocks light from the sides of a lens's front element
  • Prevents lens flare and improves image contrast
  • Rolls back for storage or to avoid vignetting with wide-angle lenses
  • Double-threaded connecting ring allows a filter with 86mm rear threads with a 0.75mm pitch to be attached after the lens hood is screwed onto a filter or lens
  • Accepts lens caps
  • Provides protection from accidental impacts to a lens's front element
  • UV and temperature resistant

    Linhof 71086H reviews

86mm Screw-in Rubber Lens Hood is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multiple use lens hood This rubber lens hood has other positive features besides being an effective hood it also is an effective sound absorber. The lens this hood is mounted on is a stabilized lens and as such produced noise. This hood helps quite the lens, especially when placed against a window to photograph birds and animals. It prevents the noise from being transmitted through the glass.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replace all of your hoods with one. This is a good product for when you want to buy an 86mm sized filter to fit all of your smaller screw size lenses using step-up adapters. One filter and hood can fit every lens. It is also less bulky than regular hoods. I use it on an ND Fader Filter. It seems a bit expensive, though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Way Too Small Hoping this would work with the Tiffen Variable ND Filter. Wouldn't fit and extends maybe 1.5 inches - no help for my Canon 70-200mm. Returned item.
