  • 1Description

The Rolls MX124 ProMix IV is a lightweight, compact, four-channel microphone mixer featuring 3-pin XLR inputs and transformer-balanced XLR stereo (L/R) outputs. Located on the side of the unit are four 18 VDC phantom power switches and four low-cut filter switches.

Individually switchable phantom power supplies allows the flexibility to use dynamic and condenser microphone simultaneously and low-cut filter switches eliminate hum, rumble and noise associated with wind and proximity effect. The front panel reveals level and pan controls for each channel. The 1/4" (6.3mm) TRS phone and 1/8" (3.5mm) mini outputs can be used to feed headphones or as alternative stereo outputs. The mixer is completely portable, operating on two 9V alkaline batteries, making it a convenient utility in ENG/EFP, video, sound reinforcement and public address applications. Alternately, it can be powered by an included adapter.

    Rolls MX124 reviews

MX124 Portable 4-Channel Stereo Mixer is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT FEILD MIXER AT A GREAT PRICE I purchased this mixer from B&H about 3 years ago and wanted to update my review. I film 60 to 65 weddings a year and needed a good 4 channel field mixer that was small, ran on batteries and had good quality sound. I use 4 mics at almost every wedding and wanted to mix the 4 on the fly to save editing time. I am extreamly happy with this product. The only thing I needed was a place to mount it, so I designed an aluminum box that fits between the tripod head and legs. Many other videographers wanted the same set up so I added the TriPodBox to my website. You can get more info at my kamslider website.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Effectively meets a specific need This product is a simple, yet effective microphone mixer. It offers 4 XLR mic level inputs with switchable phantom power and low cut filters for each channel and stereo L/R XLR outputs. The XLR outputs are mic level; important to know when feeding the next piece of equipment in the chain. There are 1/4 and 1/8 phone outputs on the front of the device that are line level. Each input channel has input level and pan controls. There is a master output level control for each XLR output in the form of small, screwdriver rotors. The device comes with a 12 volt power adapter or can be powered via two 9 volt batteries. Solid build construction and clean sound. If the features offered are what you need, it's a fine device.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good stuff for the value This is not a professional product but can be useful for some professional cameraman if you don't have a budget for a sound person and mixer. First, it is a 4 channel XLR input and 2 channel mic. level output, it is useful for a 2 camera interview setup and also shooting a forum with 4 mic., sound can be group and feed to both camera.... Be reminded, there a output level switch close to the output jack and you have to adjust to a lower level to avoid peaking before first use. I have a zoom handle recorder and can be used as sound level monitor/recorder and this device has no meter for sound level. It is better if your camera can generate a 1KHz tone for sound level line up before every use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MX124 Basic Elegance I know that we can all spend over 3K on a field mixer. And YES! They do work well. That being said...Bang for your buck...this is a sweet little device. It is capable of handling 4 inputs with individual Phantom power to each channel. Now you may say There are no meters. Well if you know what you're doing, you can do without. Just use your ears...aaahhhh the good old fashioned way. I've used this mixer in almost every weather condition and let me tell you...it can take a beating. Good Sound Quality, Low price. A great primary or back-up for professional recording applications.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inexpensive, versatile and flexible! I was introduced to this little MX124 mixer. WOW! Love at first sight.4 channels of balanced input, 2 channels out, every feature you'd expect of a Shure FP-32 (like I am replacing) or FP-33, except - I'll admit, no tone generator or useless built in VU meter. Big deal. I set up this little guy, tested it out and was really pleased with the ease of use, sound quality and convenience! Look, for less than $, you can have a really useful, professional level mixer that works for tons of applications. Sure, you can spend a lot more and get a superior product, but face it? Who needs a Rolls Royce when a Zip car will do?!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Inexpensive Field Mixer Good within Limi This is an inexpensive field mixer which has some limitations. The lack of VU meters or more than a single clipping diode limits its usefulness in setting levels. The switches require the use of a pocket knife or small flathead screwdriver to set. However, it fills a need that I have for a battery powered mixer that I can carry in my sound bag to be used in video recording. Left to right pan centering which outputs to XLR plugs. Controls are more ballpark than accurate. Sound quality is OK for field video forget it for studio work. It needs to come with a strap to hang it on the camcorder tripod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing field mixer! I use this on every wedding with 3 wireless mics and one shotgun. XLR in and out makes for very clean sound! Nice to be able to pan mics left or right to get stereo effects. Runs all day on two 9 volt batteries. I use rechargeable lithium batteries. I mount in in an aluminum box that fits between my tripod legs and head (which I sell). You can spend hundreds more and not get better sound!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it! I bought this mixer in the summer of 2014 for use in video depositions and shoots for corporate clients. It is quiet and the dials are silky smooth. When I bought the mixer I also bought 4 audio-technica wired mics that accept the 18 volt phantom power output. The size is small enough to fit in my camera bag. I love the xlr connectors, nothing could hook up more solidly. So far I haven't had any complaints with this little jewel!
