Leica's Ultravid line are remarkable roof prism binoculars which exceed even the lofty standards of the Trinovid models, while reducing weight and streamlining the chassis.  Ultravids contours feel as immediately comfortable in your hands as does wearing an old pair of jeans, and they couldn't be easier to keep steady on your subject.  They're available with rubber armoring in basic black, an attractive military green, and occasionally in a purist's delight - black pebbled leather.

This 10x42 model features a 4.2mm exit pupil diameter which allows comfortable viewing in most lighting conditions.  They're a great choice for stadium sports or as a serious birding tool for those that prefer bigger, bolder views which come from higher magnifications.

Generous 6.3° field of view for a 10x full-sized binocular
Phase-coated roof prisms and Leica's new HighLux System of coatings result in the brightest binoculars to wear the Leica name
Internal focusing allows a constant length
Robust magnesium & titanium housing
Revised eyecups provide superior shielding of stray light
Enormous weight savings & brightness increase from the Trinovid equivalents
±4 Dioptric correction
58-74mm Interpupillary adjustment range

10x42 Ultravid BL Binocular (Black Leather) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful These are very expensive, very high-quality binoculars. If you're looking at buying them you are undoubtedly also looking at the Zeiss and the Swarovski and perhaps the Nikon counterparts. I did my research into the similar glass (mind you being a Nikon-devoted photographer) and these are the only ones that combine technical quality with aesthetic experience. These are, as other reviewers note, the most beautiful binoculars on the market. The leather is a joy to hold and to look at. I have no concerns about durability, and an experience in the wet, cold snow has confirmed that. The performance is stunning as well, as one would expect. Contrast and color rendition are extreme. Friends who have looked through them are astounded. How can it look better through the binoculars than through my own eyes, they say. It's true. I compared these to the Zeiss Victory's and the Swarovskis and the Premiers. Leica makes the best binos, not only for the technical quality, but also for the experience. They. are. beautiful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected! I have owned a 9X and 12X roof prism binoculars from Nikon for years and have really enjoyed them, but knowing that optics and coatings have improved over the years, I wanted to move up the ladder and try this one. WOW! The clarity of these is unbelievable, and the very near close focus is wonderful. The price is certainly hard to swallow, but you will soon forget about it once you start using these. As soon as I can afford to buy again, I will pick-up a second pair of Ultravids.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A more beautiful binocular doesn't exist The specifications (eye relief, etc.) may not be as impressive as Swarovski is producing, but if you appreciate beauty and design, you can do no finer. This is a beautiful bino, inside and out.
