Dedolight DLH4 Overview

This Dedolight DLH4 150W Spotlight with DT24-1 is a universal quartz halogen light head with new double aspheric lenses and zoom focus, and it comes with a 120V dimmer.

The optical system of the Dedolight surpasses the traditional concept of studio lights with Fresnel lenses. The Dedolight optical system employs two lenses, neither of which is a Fresnel. The second lens pre-collects the light, directing it to the front lens, minimizing light loss. This produces focusing range and light efficiency, especially in the spot position.

Ultracompact size, with light output equal to much larger light sources.
Project background patterns with optional projection attachment and lenses.
Clean beam, no stray light, and very even light distribution.
A variety of power options: worldwide 100 to 255 VAC, batteries, automotive power, or small generators.
The 120V dimmer allows for precision control of color temperature.

Extremely flexible with an adjustable focus point, dimmer, and color temperature selection. Mounts on any secure post, such a light stand, etc. Seems well engineered.

I'd give them 0 stars if I could. Their customer service is awful. People are rude and don't care about their customers... Use lowel or arri or any other lighting company

We shoot weddings and short films. This Dedolight is simply awesome for our needs. If you are in a poorly lit environment and you need to light up your subject, then get this. You will not be disappointed! It has a long range beam that focus's on your subject. There is no spill over on anything or anybody nearby. We love it!

Great light

I'm an event videographer and I mostly bring two of these to weddings. Receptions get dark and many times, the hall staff get their own creative ideas, which result in them turning off all the lights. PROS: - long, powerful throw of light - barn doors (sold separately) very effectively block light unlike other lights I use. No perceptible light spill! - light, compact and sturdy build CONS: - gets hot really fast and stays that way during operation. It's actually dangerous how hot it gets. - colour temperature seems to be basically the same on full intensive regardless of mode - all accessories are pricey

You would need to get a speed ring such as the Dedolight Mini Speed Ring Adapter for DLH4, 4P, DLH4M-300 (http://bhpho.to/2aWWg01) to use softboxes like the Impact Luxbanx Duo Medium Rectangular Softbox (24 x 32") (http://bhpho.to/2aYT2JJ)

question

How well would this work for lighting an event? If I had to light a wall 20ft tall from 50ft away would that work? If I was lighting from even farther away would this light work well or should I look for a different light?
Asked by: Matt G.
I use it to light a dance floor 20-30 feet away. It seems to do a great job. I usually have it narrowed to a spot light.

question

If I use this light at 20-30 feet away, should I buy 8 Leaf Barndoor Set with Gel Clips together? Are more accessories necessary for this light? Thank you so much!
Asked by: Neo
Yes, absolutely. I rarely use this light without the barn doors and gel clips. Definitely needed to shape the light.

I don't think this light is a good choice for mobile lighting. I would choose the torch L.E.D.
