The JK Audio Broadcast Host is a telephone/audio desktop studio interface designed for easy integration with computer-based workstations, mixers, recorders, etc. The idea behind the Broadcast Host is to provide a noise-free telephone interface for recording interviews or IFB-style audio transmission while in remote locations. An XLR-female input allows a microphone or line level signal to be fed into the phone line. A second 3.5 mm mini input is provided for output devices with a mini output.

A 16-bit Digital Signal Processor (DSP) continuously monitors both the phone line and audio signals to deliver excellent separation. This eliminates the noise and cross-talk associated with audio over phone lines, providing a clean, broadcast-quality audio signal on output. An XLR-male Caller output provides an isolated out for the caller signal alone, and a 3.5 mm mini stereo output provides a mix of both incoming and outgoing signals.

Audio / Telephone Interface

A complete interface between audio sources and analog phones and cell phones. Designed for telephone interviews, broadcast, IFB and more.

Digital Hybrid Technology

Digital 16-bit processing eliminates the cross-talk and bleed associated with audio transfer over telephone lines. The result is clean, clear audio signal suitable for broadcast applications.

Auto-Answer

The Auto-Answer feature automatically picks up incoming calls on the first ring, then drops the call when the caller hangs up.

My JK Audio will no longer let me connect my ...

My JK Audio will no longer let me connect my callers to my Arrakis Broadcast system. How do I get my JK Audio to function properly again?
Asked by: William
If the unit was working and then suddenly stopped, first please make sure all cables connecting the two units are functioning. If there were any changes made to the signal chain prior to the issue, please try to reset the original signal chain. If audio from the system can be heard by the caller, but the caller can not be run through the system, please ensure the callers channel is selected to take audio in on the system. If all the above is correct, then we'd suggest reaching out to JK Audio for deeper troubleshooting at 800-552-8346.

question

Could this be connected to a Zeus Intercom matrix?
Asked by: Terry
B&H does not support the Zeus Intercom matrix and I am unable to definitively answer your question. However, I am able to advise you in general. Intercom systems, though many have 3 pin XLR connectors for audio, are actually wired differently and have 30V running down the cable. Connecting from an intercom's loop-thru may be detrimental as this signal can potentially burn out an audio device such as the JK Audio Host. Some intercom systems provide a standard analog audio out. If the Zeus intercom matrix falls in this category, you may connect it to the JK Audio broadcast Host.

I was able recently to compare the sound of my Broadcast Host with a 20+ year-old Telos One hybrid and was astounded by how much less noise the ancient Telos had compared to my JK Audio unit. Am I doing something wrong with my BH? Are there settings I don't know about that adjust the noise suppression or whatever? This unit is more advanced so I'm sure it's operator error.
Asked by: John
Telos is a professional broadcast supplier of telephone hybrids. The Telos One units were broadcast, very high quality devices, they adjusted the quality of analog audio, based on the POTS ("Plain Old Telephone Service") telephone line being used for that exact call. Currently, the telephone lines are often digital lines or sometimes a combination of analog and digital and often are carried over internet service providers. Using Audio Over Internet Provider (AOIP). There are several companies/ products which address these phone line differences. These include the JK Innkeeper, Comrex and Telos products (the latter 2 being Broadcast level).

question

Does this system handle delays in case I have to censor a caller before it gets on the air?
Asked by: Nathan F.
The JK Audio Broadcast Host Desktop Digital Hybrid would not provide a delay for censoring calls. A unit such as the Eventide BD-960 Broadcast Audio Delay, B&H # EVBD960, would be recommended for censoring live broadcasts.

question

How many phone calls can I take with this system? Nathan
Asked by: Nathan F.
Physically there is one silver satin or phone line connection. To reach multiple lines we use AT&T audio conference service.
