Slik SBH-100 overview

  • 1Description

The Slik SBH-100 DQ Compact Ballhead 100 is a compact and lightweight ballhead that is ideal for any point-and-shoot digital or film camera, a bridge camera, or a lightweight SLR system. The head features an easy to use single-lever release that locks the camera into place with one single action.

Differing itself from many inexpensive ballheads on the market, the base of this head can rotate (pan) in addition to the ball movement. This makes horizontal movement of the camera much faster and easier.

    Slik SBH-100 reviews

    SBH-100 Compact Ballhead 100 - Supports 3.5 lbs (1.6kg) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from 1 big design flaw Ordered this to mount a monitor on and it worked great - the first time. The second time I noticed the cork slipping as I screwed the monitor onto the mount. When I took the monitor off, the cork started tearing. I gently removed the cork to find that the structure underneath the cork is not solid but hollowed out and the cork sits on 4 crossing bars. This is great for reducing weigh, but a fatal flaw in durability as it does not provide enough contact surface for the cork to stick to. So, unless you want to spend the time to fill in the hollowed out mount with JB weld, which seems to have worked (crossing fingers), I'd suggest looking for something else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Better Inexpensive Ballhead I use compact ball heads to hold and position Nikon speedlights on light stands. I usually mount them on top of an umbrella bracket. I am constantly searching for the ultimate, inexpensive, compact ball head. In this price range, the Slik comes pretty close. While it lacks the finish of a comparably priced Giotto, it's larger locking knob is easier to adjust quickly. It releases pressure very quickly, allowing me to aim my speedlight then secure it in the position I want it with very little effort or fiddling around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product For My Specific Use First off, I am a novice, so I have no real expertise. Being Used with Panasonic DMC-FZ50K on top of Hakuba H-MS10 Monopod & Tabletop Tripod. I do alot of Close-Up of small electronic parts and started to need tabletop tripod. Unfortunately, the long lens on the DMC-FZ50K would hit the table when attached directly to the Hakuba. With the Hakuba's head locked into the vertical position, locked into recess, and the Slik mounted onto Hakuba, this worked perfectly for tabletop close up work. And, when using the Hakuba as Monopod, the additional Slik head placed the Panasonic much closer to eye levey, I'm short. However, to make a long story short, the Slik seems to be a great product. I certainly would recommend this for use with small to medium camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value! I use this ballhead mainly on a camera mount installed in my car that I use to record races. It is a great piece, the joint locks down tight and does not slip, and range of movement is wonderful. The only thing I don't like is the cork camera protector, but it doesn't really affect the usability or appeal of this ballhead. Overall it is a great product and value, I recommend it.
