Nikon AS-19 reviews

AS-19 Speedlight Stand is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 87.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product. I own several of these items since I like the portability of them. I rate 4 stars because of the price, way too expensive for what they are. Use them for Sb900's and Sb600's. The stand provided with the Sb 900 is a complete failure because they use plastic thread instead of metal so they are not reliable after a few set ups. I am not sure about the stand provided with the new Sb700, but it probably has a cheap plastic thread too. Overall this stand is very durable but sometimes have to be careful about not tighten it too much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from low light issue solved my neighbor has a son on a local school wrestling team and asked me to get some shots of his son in action. when i arrived at the gym i immediately saw there was not enough light. all i had was my nikon sb-400. i purchased a nikon sb-600 with an as-19 stand and put the sb-600 on the stand about three feet from the mat. i used the sb-400 to trigger the sb-600 and got some great photos. if you've never been to a wrestling match they are very exciting and make for some great action shots. The configuration that i used did very well and solved my problem...Nikon4ever. brian graening

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Replacement I use it for posting speedlights in nooks and crannies, so I was disappointed to learn in the guide sheet that the side cold shoes do not fit normal speedlights, but instead they are only for a couple of older Nikon speedlights (SB-15 and SB-27)that were built in a cantilever style, off center. It is a solid base though, and the center shoe fits normal speedlights. Best, it has a metal threaded insert for mounting on a 1/4-20 threaded post, such as you find on rails.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from metal threads for mounting to light stands or Tripod better than the plastic threadeed stands that come with the flash units. Metal is more secure and less likely to damage. Nikon flash units secure well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again and again I recently received an additional SB-600 in a trade but the stand was missing. This is the standard speedlight stand that comes with the flash. The flash locks reliably to the stand so I don't have any worries about it falling off. The bottom of the stand is tapped so it can be mounted on any tripod, in case you want to try off-camera flash and don't have a light stand. Price was less than I expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Replacement & for Extra Uses I use several of these to mount strobes on custom-made spring clamps for fast easy flash-mounting in a hurry. They are a good replacement for lost ones, and for extras for the clamps, umbrella brackets, etc. Seem fairly sturdy with decent thread mounts. I do not own the newer AS-21 (for SB-900) but these look sturdier to me and I like that they have the extra mounting positions on them. Wish they were a bit less costly, I'd buy even more. Have 8 of them so I don't have to take them on and off of each mount i use them for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every Speedlight Needs One Everybody says, get your flash off camera. But how do you do that if you don't have a light stand? With this simple little Speedlight Stand from Nikon. Now, I can place my SB900 on a table top, countertop or rock. Whatever is handy. I can use it on my tripod, or, even on an old tripod I had for a digital point 'n shoot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great with my SB-800 and SB-80DX's Great for table top flash work or in situations where you need to tuck the flash away on a flat surface w/o the need for elevation. I don't think the AS-19 works with the bigger foot on the SB-900 however. Metal threads are nice, but I haven't used these on a light stand. That's what umbrella adapters are for.
