Nikon 2260 Overview

This Circular Polarizer II Filter from Nikon is a 77mm multicoated filter that minimizes flare and glare, providing increased saturation and clearer images that are crisp and have more contrast.

The polarization effect is visible in the viewfinder or on the LCD screen as the front ring is rotated. When shooting on a bright day, the saturation of a blue sky may be controlled, which enhances the definition of cloud formations. In addition, when shooting into water, the reflections often associated with landscape or scenic photography may be minimized or eliminated. A circular polarizer is an essential tool for landscape photography. When shooting through a glass window, museum showcase, or car window, reflections and glare will be reduced allowing the subject behind the glass to be captured. This slim filter ring design allows this filter to be used on wide-angle lenses with a reduced potential for vignetting the image corners.

Note:
Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems without problems)
Multicoated glass minimizes flare and glare on the sensor or film plane
This filter eliminates ultraviolet rays from outdoor shots as well as polarizing the light to remove reflections, and increase color saturation, without affecting the overall color balance
Effective with cameras that use beam splitters in the path of the TTL light meter and with AF cameras

Not as expensive as other polarizers and it was made by Nikon, which says a lot. Delivered on time.

I like the fact that the circular polarizer is thin and does not obstruct the angle of view at the corners. That is a big plus when it comes to having a wide-angle zoom lens.

Precise threading. Easy to attach and detach. I've used Nikon polarizers since the film days. The quality is still there. I use a 77mm and it works very well.

Nikon Circular Polarizer - Meet Canon Lens

I recently decided to try this polarizer in 77mm and compare it to a Hoya 'Super Polarizer' one I had purchased years ago ... based on the many excellent reviews I read on B&H. I took a few comparison photos outdoor on a tripod, same lens, and camera, on a tripod and the difference was easy to see. The Nikon filter blew the Hoya away in sharpness, color detail, and polarizing effect without overly darkening the scene, IMO. It's definitely a keeper and well worth the higher price tag.

Using this on my Canon R5 with the RF 24-105 f/4 L lens. It provides excellent image quality. So why didn't I buy the overpriced Canon polarizer? I think I just answered that question. Important tip: Don't put a cheap (a.k.a. $30-$50) filter on your expensive glass.

Using this will the Nikon Z 70-200 f 2.8. This is the lowest profile polarizer I've used. Half the height of the B&W F-PRO filters. Very impressed. Comes with a nice case too.

Is this the correct polarizer to use with the Nikon F6 film camera?
Asked by: V
I am sure it will work. But you will need a lens that accepts 77mm filters. The camera can handle the polarizer, best used on a tripod if possible as you will loose stops. You will have to make various shutter, ISO/ASA, and aperture adjustments to make up for the lack of light reaching the film plane.
