Canon Extension Tube EF II Overview

The result of using extension tubes is that the distance from the back of the lens to the film surface is longer, which means you can take photographs at shorter distances to the subject. Extension tubes are thus commonly used for macro photography and sometimes for closeup portraits.

When using the camera's TTL metering system, no exposure compensation will be required (exposure compensation is required for handheld meters).

This updated version II is now also fully compatible with Canon Digital EF-S lenses, as well as standard photo EF and TS-E lenses.

Extension Tube EF 25 II is recommended for lenses with a focal length of 50mm and up (EF-S 18-55mm can be used at middle and tele zoom settings).

After some trial and error I finally got this beauty to work works perfectly on the sigma 105 macro 2.8 Definitely had an issue with my 70-300 4-5.6L would not focus til I was at 300mm

Worked as expected.

As always Canon comes through with a great product. I use this with my telephoto lens to do macro style photos of flowers.

Good, but not quite what it should be

I'm digitizing old film with and R5 mounted to a Beseler Dual Mode Slide Duplicator. I wanted this extension tube to use with an old EF 55 Macro to shoot approximately 1:1 copies of full frame 35mm film. I've used that setup in the past on other Canons with very good results. I lost my previously used extension tube somewhere along the way. This Canon tube works well and does what it's supposed to do. I'll knock the rating down slightly because of the price; and because the build quality doesn't match a similar much lower priced (RF) mount tube from Fotodiox. Using and RF mount tube just means I have to switch the order of the lens, tube and adapter. The Fotodiox tube is heavier (should dampen camera vibration better)... and the lens mount is machined to produce connection between the components that has zero free play. Not true with the Canon tube. (I'm using Canon branded EF to RF adapters in both cases)

Compra feliz.

It's wildflower season, and I found I wasn't able to get quite as close-in as I wanted with the 100 macro, so I added this guy. Did just what it's supposed to - brought down the minimum focusing distance. The 100 already has a paper-thin plane of focus, the tube only increases that effect. I didn't notice much in terms of f-stop loss that affected what I could work with. I like that it's Canon with that build quality and guaranteed electronic compatibility. See the focal plane at the moth's proboscis:

Seems to work great

Seems like a quality piece that works as intended. I am taking macro photos and it allows me to get closer to the subject. I kinda wish there was a longer version.

Wanting to try soon

It is blazing hot here, so don't spend much time outdoors. I did some macro work at my dining table. I enjoyed doing what I did and definitely looking forward to more in the near future. Everything worked without flaw.
