Nikon 8214 overview

  • 1Description

The 16x32 StabilEyes VR Image Stabilized Binocular from Nikon offers steady viewing previously unavailable from handheld optics of this magnification. Integrated sensors and servo motors counteract vertical and horizontal motion as well as rolling motion commonly experienced while viewing from a moving vehicle. A fully multicoated optical path and phase-correction prism coating allow the StabilEyes VR binocular to transmit a bright image that is color faithful and rich with contrast.

Nikon's Vibration Reduction (VR) system stabilizes the image by adjusting the binocular's prisms inside a gimbaled housing—allowing up to 3° of motion compensation on each axis. The image stabilized view improves image sharpness and can minimize eye fatigue commonly experienced during long-during observations.

A 15mm eye relief and Turn-and-Slide eyecups with multiple click-stop positions can provide a comfortable viewing distance for almost any viewer. The 56° apparent viewing angle and 11.5 ft minimum focus distance equip the 16x32 StabilEyes VR for intermediate to long-range viewing tasks. In addition to the image quality rendered by fully multicoated optics and VR system, the StabilEyes VR binocular features a nitrogen-filled housing that provides fogproof and waterproof performance.

Nikon 8214 reviews

16x32 StabilEyes VR Image Stabilized Binocular is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comment on Nikon Stabileyes 16 x 32 I look at the scenery and the town through the window of my high rise flat. I also take it when travelling for much the same purpose. The magnification is as quoted and the tradeoff between magnification, light and weight is satisfactory. The stabilizer works OK. There is a risk that if the batteries go flat and I or a friend turn on the image stabilizer, something will break and having it fixed will be problematical from here. Its a pity that the Nikon engineers did not foresee this risk and build in a precautionary mechanism to avoid it (like shutting the image stabilization down before the battery goes flat). Better lens covers would be good too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 16 x 32 Nikon StabilEyes VR Binocular These glasses are excellent. The image is exceptionally clear. The stabilization system is the best I have experienced. I live on the Pacific Ocean in California with a 180 degree ocean view from an elevation of 200 feet. These glasses provide me with a clear, easy to focus image of the whales, the otters, the dolphins and seals as they pass. Sea birds can be seen diving for fish or resting on the kelp beds or riding the waves. Ships are clearly visible and markings show up clearly. My only criticism is that they are a bit heavy to hold for long periods. I find them superior to my Canon 12 x 36 IS for clarity and I prefer the switch powered-on stabilization to the Canon button control.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I hoped for Just returned from a cruise to Alaska. One guy had similar binoculars and I loved them. I trusted B&H to sell me the best at my price limitation and to recommend same.
