Matthews B756040 Overview

This black Matthews 40" C-Stand with Sliding Leg, Grip Head, and Arm features an adjustable third leg to accommodate uneven terrain when shooting on location. This flexibility makes this the ideal stand for tight spaces or when working around obstructions.
Sometimes called a "Rocky Mountain leg," the sliding top leg of this C-stand makes secure rigging possible even in restrictive situations. This special leg can be used to adapt the stand to inclined terrain or to safely mount a modifier or fixture on staircases. Matthews's large T-handle knobs give operators an ideal grip for tightly locking down the position of the leg. The stand supports gear up to 22 lb and rises to heights up to 10.5'.
Matthews includes a Hollywood Grip Head and 40" Hollywood Grip Arm to extend the reach of your rig. To promote a strong bite to light modifiers and small fixtures, the grip head and arm feature serrations for extra friction. The heads accept both 5/8" baby pins and 3/8" pins, such as those found on small scrims.

I've been wanting a c stand for awhile and finally pulled the trigger and bought one. Wish I did it sooner. Great size and made from quality materials. Very happy with it!

I have been purchasing these as often as possible. They are a little pricey but definitely worth the money. They are solid, and sturdy and are fit for use in many different situations and orientations.

If you have had the displeasure of working with lower quality C Stands (Neewer, Impact, etc.) you know how much of a cadillac these Matthews Stands are. There's a reason that almost every film set you go on you'll usually find these (American C Stands are also pretty popular). They work smoothly and are almost bulletproof. Trust me, when the DP calls for a flag, the last thing you want to be stuck with is a knock off C Stand while everyone watches you struggle to make it work.

Newer cheaper stands out there may have a few tricks up their sleeve. But nothing touches Matthews quality and reliability. You cannot go wrong getting this C Stand.

I bought this stand to hold a heavy Condenser mic that mic stands just could not support. I don't think a huricane could knock it over.

I primarily use this as a stand for my strobes and its been great! However with high durability comes high weight. I love this stand to death but boy do i hate carrying it around.

If I take out the bottom screw to remove the legs for packing, will they go back on easily?
Asked by: Cliff
No. The bottom screw only loosens the legs to fold up. If you want to remove the legs it's called 'turtle base'. I recommend turtle base over these because I bought two of these and now I want turtle base.

Is there a difference in robustness, quality or a different diameter for riser between this model B756040 and the c stand BH #MALSCP40B • MFR #B339758 ?
Asked by: Jean
Both these models have the same capacities. They perform differant functions. The B756040 is a Sliding Leg C-Stand allowing it to be mounted on uneven surfaces such as a stair case. The B339758 C+ Stand has a removable riser that attaches to the base with a 1-1/8" Junior pin. When riser is removed the base turns into a very low sturdy stand offering a Junior Reciever.

Why doesn’t my profoto strobe go onto the end of the arm but goes onto the stand fine? Never had this happen before even with the exact same products
Asked by: Adrienne
Another note: if your stand is the painted black version, as you know usually C-stands have that tighter fit but add some paint on the same stand and it’s even tighter, if you can get it on at all.

question

does this have everything i need to attach a moonlight to this stand? i am not understanding how a strobe would attach to this? please help.
Asked by: Paul B.
The Moonlight Strobe I found online mounts to a standard 5/8" Baby Pin. The top of this stand, where the head and arm are attached is a 5/8" Baby Pin, you could mount the strobe directly to the stand this way. If you wanted more elevation, or you would like to offset the strobe you would attach to the back of the C-stand arm which is the same 5/8" dimension.

question

I just got this and I love it. I want to know, if I unscrew the screw that connects the nondetachable legs to the stand, would I be able to use detachable legs with the same stand or are the stands with the turtle base designed specifically for those type of legs?
Asked by: Emmitt S.
Depends on the turtle legs.. some are built for specific diameters (like the matthews turtle base) and others can accommodate larger sttands. best solution? get the turtle base c stand kit specifically machined to work together.

The stand itself is in a large box and the Arm and Head are in a smaller box ensuring that the items arrive to our customers in great condition.
