Pentax 62209 Overview

  • 1Description

The 8x21 UCF R binocular from Pentax features a clever dual-axis body design. Unlike common dual-hinge optic, the UCF R's eyepieces move simultaneously when adjusting them for viewing. This type of construction makes setting the binocular up a breeze, and it adds a significant amount of strength and stability to the entire optic.

Sporting a rubber-covered housing and sliding eye cups, the UCF R provides a secure grip and a customized view. The optical system consists of a pair of BAK4 roof prisms in a compact configuration, and super multicoated lenses for optimum viewing at all times. The 8x21 UCF R has an entry-level price-point, yet it's durable, easy to carry and use, and it delivers excellent viewing performance.

BaK4 porro prisms: crisp clear viewing, accurate colors
Sliding eyecups for a customized fit, rubber armoring for a secure grip
Sleek contemporary dual-axis housing design is compact, rugged, easy to handle
Fully multicoated lenses: Pentax super multicoating on all air-to-glass surfaces ensures maximum light transmission, reduced flare/glare, enhanced contrast

Pentax 62209 Reviews

8x21 UCF R Binocular is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 50.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the at home bird watcher! I was looking for a pair of binoculars specifically to get a better view of the birds on the feeders in our back yard. The problem was the feeders are all within 20ft from the window, so normal binoculars were just too strong, and couldn't focus on the birds that were close. These binoculars have solved that problem! I can now easily focus in on all the feeders in our back yard, even some that are probably only 6-8 ft. away from the window (closer then the manufacturer specs say). Also, the eye relief is excellent, I've had no problems with them not focusing well due to my glasses. Over all I couldn't be happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great binocular, you will be happy. First of all let me say that I am very picky consumer and easily get disappointed if product is not perfect. After reading this sentence look at the rating I gave this product... correct, 5 stars. It all started with hockey game I was going to attend and I needed a compact binocular that will fit into my pocket, won't be heavy, will be easy and fun to use. My first purchase was compact binocular of one of other brands and at first look it was okay, but when I went to the game I was extremely disappointed, everything was darkened as if I was wearing sunglasses, also some weird haze was around the lights, I had to return it. Then I bought another compact from other popular brand, and was disappointed again, same problem, not as severe as with first purchase, but yet again I did not like it and had to return it again, third time I went to other manufacturer and purchased another compact again, guess what?, disappointment again, this time one of the lenses was defected, it had small bump on it so when you look through binocular you would see large dark spot in the middle, I thought it's just a dirt that stuck on the lens, but no, it was actual glass that sort of melted and bubbled up, I do not even understand how that is possible, isn't manufacturer suppose to polish all lens and would have seen that defect as quality control stage, it was right there in the middle of outer lens? Anyways, after being disappointed three times in one week I decided that I will make last call, I would purchase this one, and if it at-least okay, I will just keep it. But, when this thing arrived I was surprised right away, it turned out to be even smaller then other three binoculars, definitely has better design and finish, and overall feels just right. So I went to park to check it in action, turtles, birds, squirrels, distant vegetation, it all was visible very clear and sharp and was very easy and quick to focus. I was very happy that day, later on, I went to another hockey game and this little binocular did it's job flawlessly, easy to focus, very clear, no darkening effect at all great sharpness. You won't go wrong by buying this product and will be very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small for your bag I have Nikon Action binocular for bird watching and carrying it always in my car. however, for sometimes while roaming around the streets of Istanbul, it is not that easy to take with you for watching migrating birds hence Pentax 8x21 is extremely suitable for your bag since it is small but works really well without promising quality. If you need a second / spare one for your daily usage, this is the one with its low price. Another opportunity to use this binocular is to get your child's attraction for bird watching, it is small enough for small kids if they are interested in your bird watching activities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Binocular for watching stage I was looking for the binocular for watching musical performance from the most behind seat in the theater that capacity is 2,500. My previous binocular have x10 magnification lens and sometimes I had a problem of shaking view with it. And this previous one was a bit heavy and I could not hold it for a long time. So, I wanted binocular with x7 or x8 magnification lens, and is lightweight. This Pentax 8x21 UCF R fit to my desire. Even with one-handed holding, I did not have shaking view problem. x8 magnification is very suitable for the theater I go. Image through this binocular is very clear even in peripheral. Before buying, I was wondering is 8x21 good enough for my purpose or better to buy the one that have 8x25. However, the image Pentax 8x21 UCF R provide is very clear, bright, and I am very satisfied with it now. To be honest, the shape of this binocular did not fancy me before buying, though, I like this product very much now and I want to use it for a long time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but shoddy lens holders We bought two pairs and immediately flew to Berlin for two weeks of museum-hopping and concerts. We saw several operas and the binocular were easy to use and very good. They even worked well at the Lady Gaga concert! The only problem is that the lens holders (not the lens caps) were loose and came off one set. We had to look everywhere for them one night. Unfortunately, we didn't get back to New York for two weeks so we weren't able to take the one pair back to B and H, since they will only take stuff back for ten days. Bummer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great First Pair Of Binoculars! I bought these binoculars for some upcoming travel. I wanted something that was small, 7 - 10x power, and less than $. The helpfull associate grabbed this pair right away addressing the clarity as the best in my price range. I tried them out around the store and the image was definetly clearer or as clear as the higher priced models. They fit in my purse and are small enough to comfortably fit my face. Because of this the image comes together as one isntead of seeing both circles. I think they are a great first pair of binoculars and will suite my needs perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Inexpensive Compact Binoculars I bought these Pentax because I wanted an inexpensive and compact set of binoculars for traveling and sporting events. They greatly outperform other compacts I've tried, and are almost as good as my $200 8x42 Nikons! I haven't taken them to a game yet, but I just did a road trip up Highway 1/US 101 and used them quit a bit. They adjust very smoothly too, which is great for trading back and forth with my wife.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from See all the action from the Cheap Seats It doesn't have weather sealing, gyroscopic image stabilizing, require a gym membership to lift or a backpack tote requirement nor cost a limb. Excellent image rendition over glare filled hazy days across oceans, from the bleachers across the grass and high above the dance stage.
