G1220.129LB 4.7" Long Spike for Monopods is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A must have for winter adventurers Despite the price for what it is, I recommend that anyone who shoots in the winter using a Gitzo monopod to have one in their bag. It doubles as a little grip when the conditions get icy. I really like the extra stability it provides in sand as well. Sometimes I stay crouched for extended periods and the extra length of this spike allows me to hold my 500mm with one hand confidently. A word to the wise. Use blue loctite or silicon caulking so you won't have to buy a replacement!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Useful in the field To prevent the monopod from slipping in the field this is more effective than a short spike or the standard rubber foot. Of course the problem of rotation remains. The price is too high; the spike is not even delivered with a protective cap (unlike the identical spikes for tripods)! I am also concerned whether the large leverage the spike can exert will eventually break the monopod which is rather fragile at its lower end - I will be cautious.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very versatile I bought this for use with a speed light as a field light stand. I have found that it will support a DSLR with telephoto. It will be quite useful for macro and birds.
