Smith-Victor P920 overview

  • 1Description

This Smith-Victor P920 Pinnacle Tripod supports up to 6.0 lb, measures 24.7" when folded and includes a three-way, pan-and-tilt head. Its 3-section legs each feature flip locks for fast deployment, and can be positioned for a minimum height of 24.0" to a maximum height of 53.0", or 62.5" with its column fully raised. The column utilizes a geared movement for precise height adjustments and an integrated center brace allows the legs to be spread simultaneously as well as uniformly. The center brace helps to hold the legs in place, which include rubber feet with twist-out, metal spikes to further enhance stability on a wide variety of surfaces, including soft and uneven soil.

Cameras, sport optics, or camcorders that are compatible with a 1/4"-20 mount can be connected to the quick release plate, which is secured to the tripod's pan-and-tilt head using a quick release cam lock. The head can be rotated 360°, tilted 60° backwards, 90° forwards, or 90° sideways for portrait orientation. Both the 360° rotation as well as the backward or forward tilt movements function simultaneously and can be set in place using the pan bar's integrated twist lock. When changing from a landscape to portrait orientation, the sideways tilt can be independently adjusted and secured.

    Smith-Victor P920 reviews

P920 Pinnacle Tripod with 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice tripod ! I use a tripod almost daily to take photos of my leather products. I've been using a trusty old Sears model I got 42 years ago. It started to fail and after nursing it along a few more months cheap old me finally decided to replace it. Well, I wish I had purchased this new P920 Pinnacle a long time ago. I don't know that I'll get 42 years of service out of it but I doubt I'll be here that much longer either. This new one is extremely lightweight and easily adjusted. I use it mainly in my workshop at Brookwood Leather but taking it along on a hike will be easy with the built in handle and the light weight construction. I also like the quick detach feature.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent product for the price This tripod will be used with digital still cameras up to about 2 pounds. It is very easy to set up and is very stable under that load. I am using it with the legs fully extended for the most part and in many cases, the elevator extended also. Although the head is mostly plastic and doesn't appear to have ball bearing panning, it is very smooth. All of the locks in the head seem to require an extra turn but they lock solidly. I've never had a quick release plate before but it's a very valuable and time saving feature. Since the legs are not round, there's no twisting. The leg locks are positive and I've seen no slippage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sound and Secure for Occasional Use Locking clips on legs grasp well with no slippage. The pan and tilt head is functional and smooth, and although not as versatile as a ball-head, this unit is considerably less expensive. Used primarily with a 28-135mm zoom lens, a 75-300mm zoom and shorter lenses, the unit proved stable and secure. If you need a good cost-effective tripod you can't beat the price. If you need a tripod for heavy use or for long lenses, get ready to shell out some serious cash.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Plastic Junk. Just a peice of outhouse leftovers. It's made of plastic that will break in a month.Every camera kit I've ever purchased has come with a much more quality free tripod than this.It should be illegal to manufacture such a poor product. It's a waste of shipping, time and space.I wish nothing but the failure for the people who designed this tripod. The creank handle bangs abainst the legs and you have to pull it out the crank handle to even get it to work.Better off just leaving the crank out all together. You have to pull it out to get it to work and then it just bangs angainst the legs. This product should not exist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from L O V E This! My sister asked me to film my neice's wedding at the church ceremony. I agreed since I just purchased a sweet digital handycam. I wanted it to come out professional looking so I invested in this P920 Pinnacle Tripod. Having never used a tripod with a digital recorder before I was a novice. ... Now I'm filming steady sports shots of my kids with ease. What did I do without it?!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product for the money Very lightweight and easy to adjust. The handle also makes it easier to carry especially if you have your hands full. I also like the height as I am 5' 11. It is not as sturdy as I hoped it would be, but, for my use, it is okay. I would recommend to a novice photographer as I am.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect Fit for the Kodak Zi-8 Sturdy and economical tripod that I purchased to use with my companies Kdak Zi-8 cameras that we purchased, also from B&H. Make for a nice user friendly package that I can check out to novice users.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more jerking motions After collecting a few tripods, and ending up with stuff that transmits jerks to the camera,I found this one,Great Price, wish it would have come with a spare mount.
