Tele Vue Panoptic Overview

Taking performance inspiration from the venerable Nagler series, then combining the optical design properties of both an eyepiece and Barlow, the Tele Vue Panoptic 24mm Wide Angle Eyepiece has a 6-element/4-group lens configuration that produces a generous 68° field view and improved edge-of-field performance, while minimizing size and weight.

This eyepiece produces a moderate-to-low magnification making it ideal for most lunar, planetary, and deep-sky observation needs. It is outfitted with fully multi-coated optics to maximize light transmission, color rendition, and contrast, with blackened lens elements that limit internal light loss and diffraction. Its comfortable 15mm eye relief provides room between the lens and eye to prevent accidental contact that can interfere with views. This model has a 1.25" barrel diameter to make it compatible with the most popular size drawtubes and accessories, and a textured rubberized grip for sure handling. To make the eyepiece as easy to use as possible, it is engineered to be parfocal with all Group 'B' eyepieces — so little or no refocusing will be required when changing eyepieces within the group.

Compatible Parfocal Group 'B' Eyepieces
  • 19mm Panoptic eyepieces
  • 8 - 32mm Plossl eyepieces
  • All DeLite eyepieces
  • 3.5 - 12mm Delos eyepieces
  • 16mm Nagler 5 eyepiece
  • All 1.25" Nagler 6 series eyepieces
  • 6 - 3mm Nagler Zoom eyepiece

Tele Vue Panoptic Reviews

A staple ep for bino use

I purchased a pair of these for use with my Baader Planetarium Mark V binoviewer. I have relatively narrow pupillary distance and these are perfect. I've also used these solo without the binos. The optics are amazing either way, exactly what you'd expect from TeleVue.

Considered by many to be the best of the Panoptic series of Televue eyepieces this does not disappoint. Pinpoint stars to the edge of the field even in fast scopes and all in a 1.25" barrel format. This eyepiece is definitely a keeper.

Another impressive eye piece from Televue. High quality optics with a wide angle FOV. A must have for your eyepiece set! The quality is worth every penny I paid for this eyepiece. A very worthwhile upgrade, only regret is I wish I did this sooner!!!

I needed a good low power eyepiece for my new Edge HD 8" SCT telescope and chose this 24mm. I already own several TV ep's and have always been very impressed with their build quality and viewing results. This 24mm Panoptic follows right along with that tradition. I couldn't be any happier! Beautiful crisp images from edge to edge, it was an instant love affair. Buy it, you won't regret it.

I recently got a TeleVue refractor and the 24mm Panoptic seemed like a good choice for wide field night sky views. It is. The color, contrast, sharpness and in-focus views to the edge of the field are unmatched in my experience. I will be buying more TeleVue eyepieces and Panoptics in particular.

Using the Tele Vue 24mm Panoptic gives great views of the moon and planets with my 8 Celestron SCT.

Objects are larger and sharper with this eyepiece, compared to other 24mm eyepieces. It's worth the money. I now wish I had the courage before, to start off with Tele Vue eyepieces and spent the extra to acquire these. It will be difficult to write a bad review on this item.

question

Is this a good eyepiece and is it compatible with the Celestron Nexstar 105 GT telescope?
Asked by: Sherman
This is a wonderful eyepiece, probably one of the best with excellent wide fields and pin sharp right to the edge of field (I have two on a pair of binoculars) and yes it will suit the telescope you are considering giving a magnification of x54
