    Samson SB100 reviews

SB100 Studio Microphone Boom Stand is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent stand I've used this stand on 3 different shooting days. Twice in a small studio, and once outdoors. It is solid and durable. It is stable even fully extended, and only needed a person to hold it outdoors on uneven ground with an incline. It readily keeps the mic just out of frame. It could even be maneuvered around while filming if needed. It's probably still better to use a hand-held boom for lots of movement in the scene, but it can work well enough if the mic needs to be moved around a little. It isn't the most compact piece of equipment, but when fully collapsed it fits into the back of my car and is easy to carry around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boom Stand I was shocked by the solid construction of the stand. I thought that it would be cheap and flimsy given the price I paid for it. However I was completely shocked. The stand is very sturdy and built heavy duty. This is a great product for a studio. The counter weight works well. The wheels are durable wheels, not little coasters.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice This is a sturdy stand that I use to hold up my large condenser mikes (the weighted boom helps). It has plenty of flexibility so I can mike my piano in several ways, as well as voice, guitar, choir, large ensembles (drum circles, big bands, etc.). It comes with wheels so you can easily manipulate the position of your mike(s) during sound check while monitoring the sound through 'phones. Maximum flexibility with sturdy construction. The paint chipped off a bit easily, but for the price I'm willing to suffer that ignominy. They look pretty good too. They're big, so not really a good choice for a compact home studio. They're also heavy, which is the point; you can have the mikes up high (12') without the assembly tipping, though of course if you're putting your expensive mike(s) up there, be alert when you're hoisting the mike(s).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A big stand with big value! I purchased this product because I am doing documentary type video of my self and need a way to hang a shotgun microphone over my head. When I found the Samson SB100 for this low price I figured I'd give a try and if it wasn't any good it wouldn't be to much of a loss. But I was pleasantly surprised to find this product to be both very functional and a good value for the money. The SB100 is great because its boom extension allows it to be far enough off to the side AND it telescopes to 12' tall which together is enough to be able to hang a mic right over my head and not have the SB100 in the shot at all! The only down side I see with this product is the washers that are used with the tension knobs are a little flimsy but they are working for now and it appears that it would not be difficult to replace them in needed in the future. Overall I would rate this product as a must have, especially for the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very well built! This is a well designed and very sturdy boom stand. While it is very tall (up to 12') my only gripe is that the minimum size was not available in the spec. I would looking for a boom stand that I could use sitting (about 48 inches) or standing. This stand only works when standing.... and not for short people standing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from sturdy boom stand Very sturdy built, very versatile. THis stand is great for studio. A Bit larger than the photo depicts, but seems built to last. Even though it is larger than a typical boom stand, it collapses down enough to make portability practical. Not the first choice for a live setting, or for smaller home studios. If you need a good studio boom, this is the one

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value I have been using one of these in live recording for a couple of years and it has been holding up well. I thought for the price it would be flimsy. But as long as you don't crank down the adjustments too tightly you're ok.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good buy for the $ On the heavy side but well built. Nice addition to the studio. It has one weird feature - the three casters that come with it lock backwards. Not a deal killer, but definitely strange. Other than that no complaints.
