Excellent quality

I have used Singh-Ray filters on all of my lenses for years, primarily for protection. This has been a bit of an investment, as they are not inexpensive. However, the clarity is exceptional. When I first started using them, I did some comparisons, with UV filter and without, adjusted for exposure, and I could not tell any difference in clarity and sharpness. This sold me. I couldn't say the same about what I'd been using, which were a fraction of the cost. I've just added them to my micro 4/3 lenses.

The best filters available

Every Singh-Ray filter I own is far superior to any other filter I've used. The construction, ease of use, durability, and (most importantly) the actual benefit of the filter to the final image is second to none. Specifically, the Hi-Lux UV filter is one that doesn't noticeably contribute to the final image, unless you compare images side by side (one with and one without the filter, taken under identical situations). It does cast a very slight warmth across the image, which helps reduce the bluish cast of daylight, especially on water or anything wet...and the filter does help clear up any haze that may be present. The filter provides excellent protection to the lens glass, and remains crystal clear even after cleaning it hundreds of times.

Don't leave home without them!

Protect your expensive lenses with, in my opinion, the highest quality filters on the market. Yes, they are expensive. But so are your lenses. I've tested them for visual acuity and could not tell the difference with them on or off my lenses. The first time you drop your camera on something hard, you'll be glad you spent the money on this filter. It's incredibly durable. I've dropped cameras twice on concrete and dinged up the edges but never shattered the glass itself. Seriously, I don't photograph without Singh-Ray filters.

I buy one for each of my lenses

Although pricey, Singh-Ray filters are a small price to pay for protecting my MORE pricey Canon L-series and Olympus M4/3 lenses. They are exceptionally high quality. I've dropped cameras on pavement several times (ugh!) and the filters were only dinged up on the rims. I get nervous using a lens without one! When I first started using them, I compared clarity with and without the filters, using a tripod and timer so there would be no other variables. I could not see a difference.

question

Is this a clear filter?
Asked by: Anonymous
The filter is a UV warming filter. The UV part will help with contrast and haze but is pretty much clear. The warming part will change the color temperature by adding just a little warmth by approximately 200k.
