Singh-Ray R-96 overview

  • 1Description

Well-suited to landscape shooting, the 72mm Hi-Lux Warming UV Filter from Singh-Ray can be used to block UV light while also serving as a protective barrier against dust or water. Thanks to its +18 mired shift value, it can reduce the bluish cast of daylight and add a slight warmth to the entire image, which makes it particularly useful at high altitudes and when using fill flash. The Hi-Lux also features a 1.4x filter factor for a half-stop reduction in exposure.

Made of optical glass with an anodized aluminum frame, this filter is designed to be durable without causing any loss in image quality. The frame has a thickness of 5.5mm and comes equipped with 72mm front threads, allowing you to stack other filters onto it for achieving a wide range of effects. Included with the product is a leatherette pouch which can be used for storage and safe transport.

  • Glass protective filter that absorbs ultraviolet light
  • Reduces blue cast commonly present when shooting under daylight, adding a slight warm tone to the image

    Singh-Ray R-96 reviews

72mm Hi-Lux Warming UV Filter is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sing-Ray ROCKS! I'm a simple amateur photographer, and I bought this mostly as a high-quality front-element protector for my Canon 85mm 1.2L glass. A friend of mine who's semi-pro told me the Singh-Ray filters were the best so I looked no further. I don't want to compromise quality one little bit, and from my research these UV Filters may even improve it. Although that's hard to do with the 85 1.2L :) I have to do more testing to see how quality compares with and without the filter. But I can say I'm highly impressed with Singh-Ray's customer service. I called pre-order just to discuss their filters and they were happy to talk me through the lineup. When I received this filter from B&H, I was disappointed that it had label stickers on the case and on the metal rim of the filter where you'd normally find machined-etching of the filter name and size. Spending this much money on a filter, I did not want stickers on it. Surely they'd come off over time and I'd loose track of what this filter was. So I called Singh-Ray. They said it must've went to B&H on an early rush order where they didn't have time to etch the metal. They said I could just mail it to them and they'd replace it with one that was etched. I sent it and I think the day they received it I was notified that a replacement was in the mail to me. they packaged it much better then I did, and they included a DVD about using their filters, hosted by three pros. Very impressed at their customer service. Oh and I bought their ColorCombo Polarizer filter for my 24mm and oh man does that thing may beautiful images. I just received this 72mm UV filter in the mail today and and looking forward to using it, mostly just for protection of course, but also interested to see how it warms the shots.
