Sigma 50mm f/2.8 Overview

To maintain high optical performance from infinity to close-up 1:1 macro photos without accessories, the Sigma 50mm f/2.8 EX DG incorporates a "Floating Internal Focusing" (FIF) system. As a result, the lens also features a non-rotating front lens group which makes it easier to work with polarizing filters, and has a focus limiter to narrow down the broad focus range. And the improved minimum aperture of f/45 now provides improved depth of field.

This lens is designed as a high-quality primary macro lens, good for film or digital SLR cameras. The improved DG lens design corrects for various aberrations. This macro lens is specially coated to get the best color balance whilst cutting down on ghosting caused by reflections from the digital image sensor. The lens provides the utmost correction against lateral chromatic aberration which is a serious problem for digital SLR cameras.

Close focus capability of 7.4"
Super Multi Layer (SML) coating reduces ghosting caused by reflections from the surface of digital image sensors
Screw-in hood also accepts a 72mm filter in the front of the lens hood

would this lens fit on a canon t3i?
Asked by: Anonymous
It fits Canon 5D3, 7D, 40D, and 20D. If t3i uses the standard housing for all interchangeable lenses, then this lens would fit just fine.

can this lens be used with the canon ring flash 14x?
Asked by: Rita S.
While Canon does not have an adapter that would allow you to directly connect the Sigma lens to the Canon Ring Flash, the purchase of the Canon 58C Macrolite Adapter B&H # CAMLA58C, and the Sensei 55-58mm Step-Up Ring, B&H # SESUR5558, would allow you to use the lens with the ring flash.

Can this be used in other than manual setting?
Asked by: Anonymous
That lens is an autofocus lens. It can be used in manual focus or Autofocus. The switch on the lens can be changed to do that, AF/M. And for the camera settings it can be used in most settings the camera can support.
