The black Tram TR50 is a miniature omnidirectional lavalier microphone designed to deliver clear speech and dialog with a natural sound that mixes well with boom microphones, making it popular among professional sound recordists working in TV, film, broadcast, videography, and more.
The mic's omnidirectional polar pattern provides a generous 360° pickup response that helps to keep levels consistent, even if the talent turns and isn't speaking directly in the direction of the capsule. The flat, upward facing design allows the mic to be easily concealed while also helping it to resist clothing and rustling noises.
The TR50 features a 40 Hz to 16 kHz frequency response with a gentle 3 to 4 dB boost in the high frequencies for added clarity with minimum sound coloration, especially helpful if the mic is hidden behind clothing or fabric. This version of the mic features a 4.5' cable with unfinished (pigtail) leads allowing you to custom wire the mic to the connector of your choice (available separately) for wired or wireless applications.
- Pigtail: This version of the mic features unterminated pigtail leads, allowing for custom wiring.
- The microphone can be wired to the connector of your choice (available separately) to work with wireless transmitters that are equipped to supply 1.5 VDC to power the electret-condenser capsule.
- Positive or Negative Bias: The TR50 can be wired with a positive bias or negative bias, depending on the intended transmitter. In addition, when wired for a positive bias, the mic can be used with the TR79+ power supply (available separately), this allows the mic to be powered via 48V phantom power or the LR44 battery in the power supply for wired use with XLR equipment. Negative-bias versions of the TR50 do not support phantom power and can only operate on the battery-powered TR79.
