Whirlwind MS-16-4-XL-150 Overview

This Whirlwind Medusa Standard Series 16 Channel (4x XLR Return) Snake is a snake cable with a heavy-duty steel stagebox at one end and a fanout at the other end. The cabling consists of heavy-duty, flexible Belden CM rated multipair cable. Each pair contains two twisted 24GA 7x32 polyethylene insulated conductors with 100% foil shield and 24GA drain wire.

The fanouts feature genuine Whirlwind connectors. Mic channels are numbered and return connectors are lettered by engraving the metal barrel with large, easy to read graphics.

Snake cables make it possible to combine several balanced (microphone) cables into one smaller diameter multipair cable, making setup and teardown much faster and easier, with less tangling and clutter than would otherwise be the case.

Heavy-duty powder coated steel stagebox with Whirlwind connectors.
Fanouts with multiple layers of rugged heat shrink at the most critical points.
Fanouts feature Whirlwind connectors with engraved numbers and letters.
Genuine Kellems wire mesh hanger to support the fanout at the board.
Genuine Kellems strain relief and grip with internal cable clamp.
Made in the U.S.A.

Well built stage snakes

I have owned and used weveral different brands of snakes, Whirlwind is my favorite. I own 2 of the 16x4 150' and 2 100'. the fanouts are nice and long, everything is sturdy, the craftsmanship is top notch and consistent across the 4 I own, even though they were bought years apart. These things are heavy. You will get strong if you handle them a lot. The audio quality across them seems fine. I don't notice any degradation, like I have with other lesser brands, though I haven't done any a/b testing with short hi-fidelity cabes. These feed Allen and Heath GL2800 and ZED436 consoles from mostly Shure SM57,57, or Super 55 mics or active sources, and sound quite nice for that type of mic. I haven't put them to the test with my nicer recording mics. I bought the 150 footers in 2017, to upgrade the older 100 footers, being just a tad short in our theatre. All work perfectly after years of use. I am the one who uses them, and I am gentle with them. I don't let people roll carts or vehicles on them, and keep them stored in air conditioned spaces when not in use.

Great product
