Furman PS-8R II overview

  • 1Description

The Furman PS-8R Series II 8-Outlet Power Conditioner & Sequencer is capable of safely powering up a rack full of equipment in a 3-step delayed sequence. The sequence is reversed for power-down, and can be initiated with either momentary or maintained switches, locally or remotely.

In addition, the PS-8R offers advanced and comprehensive transient voltage surge suppression. Furman's proprietary Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) suppresses AC noise evenly, assuring maximum performance from your system. SMP+ circuitry offers the highest degree of protection against electrical surges and spikes, and does this without sacrificing itself or any of its components. In addition, the Extreme Voltage Shutdown circuit automatically turns off the unit when it is fed 140 volts or higher, protecting itself and connected equipment from the extreme voltage.

One or more Furman PS-8R II's may be installed in remote locations and operated via low-voltage wiring. The unit comes factory-set for "maintained operation". It may be easily converted to other operations by moving jumper plug/plugs on the PS-8R II's circuit board.

Six sequenced rear panel outlets (in 3 groups), two switched rear panel outlets, and one front panel unswitched outlet
Series Multi-Stage Protection (SMP) with a high current TVZ-MOV provides the highest level of AC surge suppression
Automatic Extreme Voltage Shutdown (EVS) guards your valuable equipment from dangerous wiring faults
Zero ground contamination circuitry assures the delivery of pure AC power thus protecting critical audio/video components
Momentary and Maintained sequencing via rear panel terminal block or front panel switch
A rear mounted BNC jack accepts any standard (12VAC 0.5 amp) gooseneck lamp for rear rack illumination.

    Furman PS-8R II reviews

PS-8R Series II 8-Outlet Power Conditioner & Sequencer is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple yet powerful Installed two PS-8R's into a church sound system. One at the sound board, the other with the amps on the undercroft. Connected the Remote and Ground together using low voltage wire and set both systems to be momentary. By increasing the conditioner connected to the amps to a longer delay time, I have no pops and the system boots cleanly within about 15 seconds. Instructions are clear but they give no examples of how to connect two together without using all 4 remote lines and one of their switches. With multiple options of how to remote these systems, a few basic examples in the instructions would have saved me about 20 minutes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as advertised So far everything has met expectations, but I do wish that the main power rocker switch would be able to turn the switches off in sequence rather than only being able to use the sequencer switch. If I want the entire device shut down properly, I cannot have somebody hit the lit up red switch because the amps will pop. They have to find the small black switch and after the 3 delays they are then able to hit the main. I understand reason that this would be beneficial, but there should be a way to override or change this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dependable workhorse I use a bunch of these in classroom A/V systems to provide both protection against AC faults and to prolong equipment life by powering up gear in sequence to avoid putting pops through amps and speakers. When a rat chewed through some wiring on campus this year, the Furman did its job and protected the equipment (dying in the process, unfortunately).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup, works perfectly We power a stationery video recorder/camera and our sound system through this multi-outlet power source. We just plugged it in, plugged in our six units and we were done. Sequence outlets offer a nice perk for those who need it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Protection for your A/V gear Whenever I install A/V gear, I include a PS-8R. It provides good power conditioning as well as power sequencing. They have always worked as expected. I recommend them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I order what I needed and got it! My old FURMAN blew up, and I had to have an exact replacement because I had two of them and they communicate with each other. Price was the best on the web
