Azden WMS-PRO Overview

The Azden WMS-PRO VHF Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System with Handheld Mic is a cost-effective audio solution designed to help vloggers and content creators improve the audio quality in DSLR- or mirrorless-camera video productions.

The lightweight, portable WMS-PRO includes an EX-503 lavalier microphone that can be clipped to clothing, close to the speaker's mouth and an EX-413 handheld microphone for man-on-the-street interviews. Both mics plug into the bodypack transmitter and deliver a rich, present sound far superior to the audio you get from the camera's built-in mic when shooting video.

The system offers a range of 250' and two selectable VHF frequencies, which provides an option in case of signal interference. The receiver's output plugs right into the audio input on your camera using the supplied cable.

The transmitter and receiver each run on a single 9V battery for up to 8 hours. The receiver includes a shoemount along with hook-and-loop tape to mount and fasten it to your camera. It also comes with a headphone jack and earphone for real-time monitoring.

Key Features
 • Both mics feature an omnidirectional polar pattern, ensuring that the sound remains consistent—even when the talent's head moves away from the mic
 • Up to two WMS-PRO wireless systems can be operated simultaneously in the same environment

question

Can this wireless mic system be used with an iPhone 6? If so, do I need a special app on the iPhone or does the sound feed directly into the camera app?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Azden WMS-PRO will require a special cable to use with a smartphone. The Rode SC4 is designed to allow standard mics to connect to the smartphone input jack. http://bhpho.to/1w6S7tG This will function with almost any app that is able to record audio.

Will this mic with the cannon XA15 video camera?
Asked by: Kelly
Yes, the Azden WMS-PRO VHF Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System with Handheld Mic is compatible for use with the Canon XA15 Compact Full HD Camcorder. To connect the output from the wireless receiver to the camera's XLR mic input, you will either need to use an XLR adapter like the RODE VXLR 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter (B&H # ROVXLR) or use a cable with an XLR connector, like the Kopul Stereo Right-Angle 1/8" Male Mini-Jack to XLR Male Cable - 1.5' (B&H # KORSMXM015).

question

Is this mic compatible with a canon t3i or t2i?
Asked by: Anonymous
All day long. If you're using a two-channel monitor on the hot-shoe, it'll need phantom power. Other than that, they work great.

question

Does the FCC still allow these frequencies for wireless mics? i understand zsome of the frequencies have been changed fpr wireless microphones.
Asked by: Robert
Yes, as of this moment, the PRO Series frequencies (169.445MHz and 170.245MHz) are still allowed for unlicensed use by the FCC. As far as we are aware, the FCC has no plans to make changes to their rules regarding the VHF bands. Both changes in recent years and current plans for future changes mostly affect the UHF bands.
