question

Does the L-308S have a back lit display?
Asked by: Anonymous
I don not believe that it does. Just received one that does not, and posts in various forums all indicate that there is no backlit display on this model.

question

I tried used a hot shoe flash (SB910) and bounced the flash into the wall and I measure the incident light with the L-308S. But, unfortunately, the f/stop I achieved via Flashmate was not accurate. I considered the ISO 100, 1/250 s. When I used the suggested f/stop my image was overexposed! (highlight warning blowed a lot). I aimed to the wall, next my subject (myself) in the direction the light came. To really take a correct exposure, I have to close the aperture 3 stops in relation to the obtained f/stop from flashmate! (I checked the histogram). What I did wrong? Thank you in advance!

Incident and reflective metering are meant to be used with continuous lighting and will not give you a proper reading with a flash. Instead, you need to use the flash setting on the light meter. Additionally, you will not get a proper reading if you are using TTL - you will need to set your flash to manual mode in order to get a consistent, proper exposure.

question

I normally shoot in either Aperture Priority or Manual modes---can't recall when,if ever, I shot in Shutter Priority ---can ambient readings be made without selecting either Shutter Priority or EV Modes with the L=308S?
Asked by: Anonymous
Only Shutter Priority or EV mode are set-able options. However, you can take a reading, once you receive the aperture, either change the ISO or shutter speed to get a varying aperture setting.

question

Is this flash meter compatible with Pocketwizard TT1 and TT5?
Asked by: Anonymous
That meter does not have Pocketwizards built in.You can attach a Pocketwizard Plus X, Plus lll or Flex tt5 to the sync port but it will only set it off and will not control or run in TTL. It will be manual only.

question

Is this flash meter compatible with Cybersync triggers and alien bees lighting?
Asked by: Anonymous
To use this light meter with your Cybersync triggers and Alien Bees lighting, you could take your Cybersync trigger which is supplied with a standard PC-sync cable and plug the PC cable into the meter, and when you press the meters button to take a reading, it will trigger the receiver connected to your Alien Bees.
