The only difference between the BR-2 and BR-2A is that the BR-2A has expanded compatibility. According to Nikon, the earlier BR-2 could interfere with the CPU connections on autofocus cameras, preventing it from mounting properly. So, it could not be used on DSLRs. The BR-2A will work well with both manual and autofocus cameras, including DSLRs.
