Turtle Base is the Easiest

Over the years I've used just about all of the different types of C-Stands like American, Matthews, etc. and the Impact Turtle Base stands are by far my favorite. And that's pretty unbelievable considering most of Impact's products are not too good.

Baby's First C-Stand

This is my first C-stand and I gotta say it's quite nice and sturdy. Not light but also not too heavy. And my cats can't scratch it so I can leave it out. If you're looking for your first c-stand, I would recommend this one.

Great C-Stand at a great price

Great C-Stand at a great price. Heavy of course - as you would expect, but that's a benefit too. A professional heavy duty C-Stand.

Sturdy as a tank

This is my first C-stand so don't have anything to compare against, but it is significantly sturdier than the light stands I have been using. Materials are very solid, construction is very good, finish is nice and fittings are especially robust. I have been using it with a 51-inch umbrella extended out from the main support and there is no tendency for tipping; I put a sand bad on one foot just 'cause I have some but not really needed for my indoor use. Have yet to try it outdoor in the wind. Have not tried the overhead shot kit yet. Will probably us it for some indoor, still-live shoots eventually.

Way too heavy to be a travel kit

This has got to be the worst purchase I've made on this site. Matte black cstands in a travel kit, great! Each stand weighing twice what a normal cstand weighs, awful! Impact's stupid quick release system trying to change a 100 year old design that worked perfectly before: Awful! A case that weighs AS MUCH AS ALL THREE CSTANDS, with zippers that fail under the weight? Awful! Stay away for any functionality. Go with a real brand like Matthews or American Grip.

Great solid stands. Useful case that needs minor improvement

For the price, these C-Stands are great. I especially like the locking mechanism for the base. It makes set-up a breeze. Everything is solidly built, and I never feel like anything is going to break. The included bag is super useful and has room for my additional grip heads and various accessories. There's also an outside pocket on the lid which I found useful for stashing my flag kit. The bases stow inside the lid, which is great in theory, but they need a little bit better retention. The velcro straps just aren't long/strong enough, so the bases WILL work themselves loose and beat around inside the case. All-in-all, the case is fine for local transport or traveling in a vehicle. I did end up shipping my stands and grip heads in the case for a travel shoot I had to fly for (with no rentals available in the area). I had FedEx stick the entire case in a long box to protect the outside of the case, which worked fine. The only thing is the interior padding/dividers didn't do a whole lot to protect against FedEx's usual rough handling (my oversight), so the stands got a bit beat up...purely cosmetic, which, in my experience, seems to be an inevitability for C-stands anyway. If I have to do it again, I'll stuff some foam or something in the voids to better protect the riser columns, which were most affected. But the case itself held up well and I cannot say enough about the quality of the stands themselves. I have not experienced the grips getting stuck as other reviewers have mentioned, but I always have a toolbox on set wherever I go, so if it happens, I'll be prepared.

Impact C stand

Very heavy (saying this as a positive). This thing will stay put. I really like the quick release lock for the legs. Locking handles very heavy duty, you can really crank it without straining your hand. I gave this a 4 star because the one I ordered had a slight bend in the boom arm. Doesn't seem like this bend should affect the performance.

If you will be connecting the Godox AD400Pro Witstro All-in-One Outdoor Flash directly to the 5/8" stud on the top of the center column on the Impact Turtle Base C-Stand Kit (10.75', Chrome), then no additional adapter would be needed. If, however, you plan to connect the Godox AD400Pro Wistro All-In-One Outdoor Flash to the grip arm included with the Impact Turtle Base C-Stand Kit (10.75', Chrome), then I would recommend purchasing the Impact 6" Baby Pin with Collar 1/4 and 3/8" Tap, B&H # IMSRP110P. This would be inserted into the grip head on the grip arm, and would allow you to connect the Godox AD400Pro Wistro All-In-One Outdoor Flash onto the grip arm.

What secures the risers in place after positioning and tightening? Is it the screw pressing against the riser or is there a 360 design squeezing the riser?
Asked by: Adam
I never had a reason to take mine apart to see exactly how the screw tightens the riser, but it never leaves any marks on the riser when I've tightened mine. The design and quality is excellent and I have no complaints or issues. It is taller than the Avenger stand which may not be good for some setups, so keep that in mind.

question

I've never used a C-stand before. I have a Flashpoint Xplor 600 and a variety of modifiers. Is there anything additional that I would need to mount the strobe to this stand? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Asked by: Charles B.
If mounting the light to the grip head end of the extension arm, the Impact SRP-113 Long Double Stud 5/8 B&H # IMSRP113 would be needed. Otherwise, if you wanted to mount the strobe directly to the stand, you would remove the extension arm and place the strobe on top of the 5/8 stud there. Either way you go, using some counterweights such as the Impact Saddle Sandbag (15 lb, Orange) B&H # IMSBFO15 across the legs is ideal to keep the stand stable. Please see the image below for reference.

I would like to take off the Turtle base, and instead, use the stand with a kind of wall plate that could receive the stand. (I want a flat base, no legs.) What’s the size of the bottom spin of the stand? Is there any wall plate receiver that will match this size?
Asked by: Alexandre
You can get a junior receiver wall plate https://bhpho.to/2N3b1QK.
