Canon 0155B002 overview

  • 1Description

Outfitted with their proprietary Vari-Angle prism electronic image stabilization system, the Canon 10x42 L IS WP Image Stabilized Binocular is an ideal optic for bird and nature watching, marine use, or astronomical use. Its quick-response time and ±0.8° correction angle easily compensates for the common hand-shake that can make viewing through binoculars of this magnification difficult or disorientating. A single-activation button located precisely where the right forefinger naturally rests makes using them easy, and an optional 5-minute activation mode allows you to concentrate on viewing without distractions.

For increased usage, the L IS WP will work as a full-featured binocular when the image stabilization is not being used - even if the batteries are dead or removed. Optically, it is built with ultra-low dispersion (UD) glass elements and matching doublet field-flatteners, with their Super Spectra anti-reflection coatings to produce bright and clear high-contrast images without distortion across the entire wide field of view. Protecting the optics and electronics is an armored chassis that benefits from ergonomically-designed grips, and a standard 1/4"-20 tripod mount socket for an even steadier view. Tethered front and rear lens caps, right-eye dioptric correction, twist-up eyecups, front filter threads, and a wide interpupillary adjustment range rounds out the features of this binocular that will become your go-to optic for any outdoor activity.

Canon 0155B002 reviews

10x42 L IS WP Image Stabilized Binocular is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 56.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent, excellent, excellent. These are absolutely excellent binoculars. The image quality is far beyond any other pair that I tried at a professional binocular/scope shop, including pairs more expensive than this. No matter how in-focus they "look", you can always adjust slightly and the image seems to get even better. Image stabilization is profound, and if you are already fairly steady then you can get the image absolutely rock solid. My only complaint is that the distance between image centre and the outside of the eyepiece is a bit large, which means they squeeze my nose a bit. May be better on people with wider-set eyes. Other than that, no complaints and only praise.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So very disappointed I have two pair of Canon IS binoculars. I really think they are exceptional... when they work. My 10x42Ls just froze up again. The first time, only a few years ago, the repair was half the cost of a new pair as everything electronic needed replaced. I do not carry these often, perhaps four times a year. Pitiful. I'm about to leave on an annual trip and almost as if it were scripted, they died again. I couldn't be more disappointed. I believe I'll have them repaired, then sell them. The problem is that it's just about as expensive to repair them as what I'll get for them. It seems a sin to simply toss them in the trash but financially and time wise, this might just happen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very good binoculars I am an avid birder and lead field trips. The image stabilization works well and is a great help in wind or in situations where you need to pick out a small field mark to make the correct identification. You can bird while in a car going 55+ and pick out hawks on poles before anyone can even see them. I have had to send them back in twice for service. It took awhile to get them back for a trip but I used the 10x30 Canon binoculars as a back up. Pelagic trips, rain, snow, and tropical weather are not a problem with these optics. They are heavy but a binocular strap that supports the weight from your shoulders make that a non issue. Op/Tech USA makes a nice strap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive yet Worth the price I have used mediocre optics all my life and settled for what I thought were ok images. Then I borrowed a friend's Canon 10x42 with image stabilizer and saw detail that my 60X zoom could not detail. My astronomer friend swears by them as his go to binoculars. As a birder, there is no better tool. I have a zoom spotting scope that brings the subject in but not with the speed and sharpness of the Canon. It is expensive and worth it. It is rugged and waterproof. I took it out today and watched the egrets pupil dilate when it had a successful strike. I watched a harrier eating a mouse and could see the intestines in color! I only regret not making it a member of my family sooner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A fine instrument This model is much lighter and more pleasant to use than the 15X50 IS though a little less brighter. Also I cannot hear the IS making a clicking sound like I could on the 15X50 IS (a little bothersome) and the batteries last longer! At 42mm app it is still a very good astronomical tool, and has a very flat field of view that just makes the sky look awsome. My only gripe, the protective rubber in front of the objectives is too short to protect them hardly at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Apex of Binoculars My reason for purchasing these particular binoculars was to use them for two of my most passionate hobbies - astronomy and bird-watching. They are the perfect choice for either and, in my case, both. The clarity of the image and the ability to stabilize that image at the 10x magnification makes them the very best choice for people who engage in these hobbies. The objective lens at 42 mm gives them great light gathering capability and makes them perfect for nighttime viewing of the heavens and crepuscular viewing of our feathered friends. I highly recommend these binoculars to anyone with similar purposes for their use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good optics and build quality. So far they have proven to be very waterproof after getting wet in the rain about 10 times in the last 6 months. The image stabilization cannot correct for exaggerated movement like on some other more expensive models (which always severely degrades image quality ) but they are superb at medium to light movement correction with very little image degradation. Overall a good quality binocular.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply put: These IS binoculars are as good as it gets. We all know that these binos are heavy, have poorly designed objective lens covers, and require batteries. Nuff said about that. Now focus on the performance. This is nothing short or outstanding. Having used binos for more than 50 years, I hve accumulated many pairs including Zeiss, Leica/Leitz, and Swaros. Most have great glass, but non can compare with the rock solid stabilized image I get from the Canon 10X42L. If you want the very best image and can manage the weight and price, buy this from B&H. You can always return them, but you won't
