Outfitted with their proprietary Vari-Angle prism electronic image stabilization system, the Canon 10x42 L IS WP Image Stabilized Binoculars are an ideal optic for bird and nature watching, marine use, or astronomical use. Their quick-response time and ±0.8° correction angle easily compensates for the common hand-shake that can make viewing through binoculars of this magnification difficult or disorienting. A single-activation button located precisely where the right forefinger naturally rests makes using them easy, and an optional 5-minute activation mode allows you to concentrate on viewing without distractions.

For increased usage, the L IS WP will work as full-featured binoculars when the image stabilization is not being used, even if the batteries are dead or removed. Optically, they are built with ultralow-dispersion (UD) glass elements and matching doublet field-flatteners, with their Super Spectra antireflection coatings to produce bright and clear high-contrast images without distortion across the entire wide field of view. Protecting the optics and electronics is an armored chassis that benefits from ergonomically designed grips, and a standard 1/4"-20 tripod mount socket for an even steadier view. Tethered front and rear lens caps, right-eye dioptric correction, twist-up eyecups, front filter threads, and a wide interpupillary adjustment range rounds out the features of these binoculars that will become your go-to optic for any outdoor activity.

There are many reviews that complain of decomposing rubber housings. Did Canon fix this issue?
Asked by: Mark
I haven't heard of an issue like this in a very long time. I believe the Model has been updated since that issue has occurred. They offer a great Limited 3-Year Warranty that does cover against this kind of Defect.

Is the front objective of the 10x42L IS threaded ...

Is the front objective of the 10x42L IS threaded for an aluminum lens hood or filter? If so what diameter is it? The binoculars are obviously 42mm diameter, but the recommended accessories lists a 52mm lens hood. If the threads are 42mm does anybody make a lens hood that size? Sensei does not list a 42mm hood.
Asked by: David
I checked. Correct size is 52mm Sensei. If you wish the 58mm Sensei will fit on the 52mm for the double stack I described prior. The 52mm will get you started and works great by itself. Adding the 58mm on top of the 52 improves results somewhat. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1079787-REG/sensei_lhm_52_pro_52mm_aluminum_lens.html/pageID/accessory
