CAD GXL-3000 overview

  • 1Description

The GXL3000 Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone from CAD is designed for capturing vocals and general instruments in project and professional studio recording applications. The microphone's diaphragm provides cardioid, omni-directional, and figure 8 polar patterns. This multi-pattern design provides flexibility for capturing audio in a wide range of scenarios. The cardioid pattern rejects off-axis audio and noise, the omni-directional pattern provides a generous pick up area at the front of the capsule, and the figure-8 pattern provides a uniform response at both sides of the diaphragm. High sensitivity and wide, linear frequency response make the GXL3000 a viable solution for most applications, including vocals, guitar, and percussion. The package also contains an elastic shock mount and a protective pouch. 48V of phantom power are required for operation.

Multi Pattern Condenser

    CAD GXL-3000 reviews

    GXL3000 Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best bang for the buck For the price you can't really beat it. You get a semi pro mic with shockmount included. An extremely warm sounding mic, but my only problem with it so far is just it having too much highs. I fixed it up wit my Eq and Mixer but was a tad fraustrating at first making it usuable. Once you get the settings you like the mic becomes very usuable in most vocal situations involving recording. This mic is def. good for most types of singing, but not well suited for the screaming/growling type vocalist (metal ofcourse :-P) Also make sure you have a vocal tube preamp. Other than that a really good mic to start out with when you're venturing out from begninnner to intermediate.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Utilitarian Bargain In many respects, this is the 'typical' inexpensive Chinese microphone of the past decade. Decent enough but with that over-emphasized high-end response that can come off as shrill. I generally would not recommend it for vocals but that doesn't mean it couldn't be used successfully -- just watch out for those hyped highs. The multi-pattern capabilities of the 3000 help make it a better than average choice at its price and useful as an instrument mike. Though I have better mikes for the job, I would not be embarrassed to point this CAD at a choir or recital -- it would do an adequate job. For the price, a well-built utilitarian piece of equipment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great U87 copy Same basic mic as the MXL V67 and other such stuff. This one is a bit better in some ways. Sounds awful, as usual, until it is properly modified.
