Datavideo SE-500 4-Channel Analog SD Video Switcher
Key Features
 • 4 Input, 2 Output Analog Switcher
 • NTSC Composite and S-Video Compatible
 • 4-Channel Analog Audio Mixer
 • Multiplexed Composite Preview Output
Compact and lightweight, the Datavideo SE-500 4-Channel Analog SD Video Switcher features composite and S-Video inputs and outputs for switching live events at houses of worship, conventions, educational institutions, small studios, and other venues. The four inputs can accept composite signals via BNC connectors and S-Video via mini-DIN connectors. Two program output sections each have composite and S-Video options as well. For previewing all four video feeds, an onboard multiplexer sends all four outputs to a single monitor over a composite video feed. Using both the S-Video and composite outputs, a single high-quality component video stream can be sent to a compatible DVD or memory recorder. Digital sources can also be connected to the SE-500 using separately available converter boxes.

Datavideo SE-500 Overview

Up to four channels of audio can be input via one set of stereo RCA connectors and two unbalanced 1/4" jacks. Using the onboard faders and audio meters, the sound can be mixed and properly balanced to fit your program. Balanced audio sources will require a separately available impedance switching device in order to ensure proper operation.

Once set up, use the T-bar and illuminated selection buttons to switch and apply effects to your video signals. Some built-in transitions include dissolves, fades, and wipes. The SE-500 can also be controlled via RS-232 (DIN-15 connector) and MIDI. Essential effects such as picture-in-picture (PiP), color processing, and split-screen are also integrated into the SE-500. To keep things simple, all inputs are internally synced by a 4-channel 4:2:2 time base corrector (TBC), so no genlock or external syncing is required for achieving smooth transitions.

I want to use 16.9 aspect ratio on my canon xl2. Do you think the se500 system will accept same ratio for recording and monitor out?
Asked by: Kenneth
More than likely it will not. Composite switchers like this will give you a 4x3 aspect ratio.

question

Is The Power Supply Auto Switching? 110/220v?. Also May i know what size is the tip of the power connection? Just In Case We Misplaced the original power supply, can we use a different one? Or where can we find the original power supply just for backup? thanks
Asked by: Lemuel
Hi Lemuel,Yes, the power supply is auto switching for 110/220 voltages. Datavideo power supplies utilize a standard DC Barrel Connector which have a 5.5mm outside diameter and a 2.5mm inside diameter on the male connector and are wired center pin positive. Replacement power supplies can be sourced through a local reseller or direct from Datavideo. Thanks!

question

Can I use HD cameras with this? Is there anyway I can output at least 720 for live stream purposes?
Asked by: Dashawn A.
Hi Dashawn, Unfortunately, our SE-500 is an Analog only switcher so you won't be able to use any HD signals with it. However, if you would like to up convert the Composite output of the SE-500 to HD-SDI at 720p, you'll be able to do that by using our DAC-7 and DAC-70 converters. DAC-7 can up convert an Analog Composite signal to Digital SD-SDI. Then, you can take the 480i SD-SDI signal from the DAC-7 to the DAC-70 up/down/cross converter to convert to HD-SDI or HDMI at 720p signal. Thanks!

question

If I buy a camera with an HD/SDI output will it work with the BNC input on this switcher, or are they not compatible? (I already have this switcher, I am just looking at my options for a HD professional/prosumer camcorder)
Asked by: Tim S.
This is for composite and S-video only. It's for switching up to 4 cameras. We use 4 Sony EVI-D70 PTZ cameras for city council & township meetings. See videos at kittv online videos for quality.

question

Hi, If I am filming someone can I show them something off a lap top or iPad and have a PIP with the subject there viewing off the iPad on the monitor with the PIP of the person viewing it in the corner of the monitor?
Asked by: Rocco M.
If I understand your reason correctly. The answer is yes. But only if what your asking is what I understand. You can display an image from one medium and pip another image from another medium.
