    Vixen Optics 1224 Reviews

3x28 Folding Opera Glasses (Tan) is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from 'the ring' couldn't have looked better Went to wagner's ring cycle. At the first one, I rented glasses and could not focus unless I took off my regular glasses. With the vixen's, I could see everything clearly with my glasses on. I had seats in different areas of the audience, and in each area the vixen glasses would adapt to the locations and were virtually innoculous to those around me. For such a small investment, I received such a big payback. It made my opera experience so much more meaningful, seeing the details of each setting. Also, there is a family of humming birds outside my living room window and with the vixen's I can watch the progress of their parenting skills up close without bothering the nervous couple. Wonderful product and so easy to carry around. The only thing missing would be a cord so that you could wear them when not viewing. Best $ I ever spent!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from They work My wife and I use these for watching birds on our feeders. The low magnifcation allows us to quickly find the targets. Not the greatest clarity, but then they are cheap.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth the $9 I spent-very narrow field of view Whats good about these opera glasses:  Folds flat (4.5 X 2.7 X .8). Very pocketable, which is unique for standard opera glasses Whats not good: 1) Confusing to close. The objective lens panel doesnt slide back into place. You have to push it. But how to push it back isnt obvious. You can do it incorrectly. There shouldnt be a learning curve involved to just folding this item. 2) VERY narrow field of view (effectively). Because there is no cut-out between the eye lenses, the bridge of my nose bumps up against the case between the eye lenses. That makes the eye lenses sit too far away from my eyes. Unless you have NO nose, you will have the same experience. This is inexcusable in opera glasses. The further the eye lenses from your eyes, the smaller the field of view. Its like looking down two soda straws. I have a pair of real opera glasses (LaScala Optics 3x25 model). The field of view is wider (though still very narrow). The viewing comfort is much better because the glasses dont hit your nose. Overall, the viewing experience with the LaScala glasses is still barely acceptable. This is just a fact of life with the Galiean design of all opera glasses. But La Scala model (and probably most of the other models available from B&H with larger 20-28mm objective lenses and metal contruction) are still much better than this toy. So dont waste your money. Spend $35 or more for something you will actually want to use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just doesn't fit my face Seriously, it just doesn't fit. The eyepieces are too far apart, and with no recess between the eye pieces, the bridge of my nose prevents me from getting them close enough to my eyes. Got what I paid for (not much).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for the price It feels sturdier than I had expected. It does exactly what it's supposed to in a vest pocket size package--brings the stage just a little closer for those who can't spring for the best seats in the house.

    question

Can you adjust the distance between the eyepieces? I'm looking for folding opera glasses that a 10-year-old girl could use. If these won't fit, does anyone know of any that will? Thanks
    Asked by: Anonymous
No, but I think that they may fit - eyepieces are about 2.5 in apart.
