I have been using my Vixen GP mount without tray for some time and finally bought this tray for it. It makes it substantially more rigid. Worth the small price if you do not have one.

I already had one of these on my 1984 Polaris mount. So when I obtained a Vixen Porta II MOUNT that was missing the circular eyepiece shelf that braced the tripod spreader, I thought I had found a replacement. First thing is however it is black. Well not really a big deal the spreader is also black. But it was a little disconcerting at first. It also fit the Porta with a little bit of wiggling. Just don't tighten all the screws down until you get it firmly seated. One nice benefit is it is threaded so there's no nuts or washers to deal with. The gauge of the metal is a little thinner than it was 38 years ago. And the corners are not quite sealed. The sheet metal folded up to make the vertical walls does inot meet by a millimeter or two. I think you call that nitpicking! It holds eyepieces just fine.

Yes. My tray came with wing nuts that attach through the bottom and thread directly into the tray.
