Fujifilm Velvia 100 overview

  • 1Description

Fujichrome Velvia 100 Professional RVP 100 Color Reversal Film from Fujifilm is a daylight-balanced color transparency film that exhibits incredibly high color saturation reproduction along with a super-fine grain structure to render imagery cleanly and clearly. It has a medium-speed nominal sensitivity of ISO 100/21° when processed in E-6 or CR-56 processes and can effectively be pulled one half stop or pushed one stop with minimal variations in color balance and gradation.

The introduction of new-generation cyan, magenta, and yellow couplers gives this film its uniquely saturated look and also offers anti-fading characteristics for ensured color image storage permanence. High overall contrast and vivid color reproduction make this film ideal for use in a wide range of photographic applications and is especially well-suited for use in scenic and nature photography.

This item is one 36-exposure roll of 35mm film.

Fujifilm Velvia 100 reviews

Fujichrome Velvia 100 Professional RVP 100 Color Transparency Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 123.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great price on a great film Film is not dead. With the rapid ascendancy of digital photography in the last 5 years, many in the general public assume that digital is superior. While digital is cheaper to use & more convenient- many don't realize that to match the resolution of pro films like Velvia, they would need a 24 or higher megapixel digital camera. I also shoot digital too- (Nikon D200) & I still think film has it's place. Velvia produces vivid, detailed images. It's a great film for landscape shooting. As others have commented, it's not the best choice for portraits- (skin tones too saturated), Provia probably would be a better choice for this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Viva Viva Velvia! If you want to recall original colors and tones it is hard to find competition to Velvia. If you are doing reproduction with Velvia, you will get precisely what original artwork looks. It is perfectly accurate and you can count on it. Because of its consistency you will have the same result with every rolls. It is basically grain less and scanning it won't surprise you. This is the film I am using shooting for publications.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Competetive Quality I have been shooting digital since the Canon D30 came out and recently using the latest pro digital gear. I have returned to use film for along with digital after I have invested in a pro quality scanner and software to re-work my older slides. The scans of this film are stunning and preferred by my customers over digital for bright sunny colorful shots. Color rendition detail and contrast is superb with virtually no visible grain from a 21 Megapixel desktop scan. Drum scans can pull out more details (about 30 Megapixel). For travel, beach and night photography I prefer to use this film over my pro digital gear. Velvia 50 still has better greys, but this film is a better choice in 35 mm format for travel use as it is less grainy than Velvia 50 (no peppercorn spots on the scan). Dynamic range is very good, with a good scanner all the low level and highlight details can be pulled out. The other good thing about a film is that you have the physical slide not only a digital file and you can re-scan it later if you wish. I have several external hard disks with raid configuration, but still manage to loose digital files once in awhile. With film I just rescan them, but bad luck if you wipe out your digital files. They are gone forever. Reliability of the film cameras is still much better than that of the digital ones. I had several incidents during extended hikes or remote travel, when for some reason the digital gear broke down. I have never ever had any problem with my film cameras. As an insurance I shoot all of my critical work on both film and digital and pick the one with a better quality for submissions to my customers. Cons: Workflow is slower than digital and cost some money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible Color Got the suggestion for this film from Ken Rockwell's site and am incredibly pleased with the results. I've found that it's best to save for a specific location rather than casual walkabout shooting. But the colors that you get from the prints are incredible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Film Fuji Velvia film is classic among experienced photographers for a reason. It looks awesome. While not as saturated as Velvia 50, this Velvia 100 provides excellent colour saturatation at a higher film speed providing a lot of life and vibrancy for evocative images. Whether you use them for old fashion transparencies for projection or for scanning, the results available are highly pleasing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First time use was good This was my first time shooting slide and I really liked it. It definitely doesn't have as much latitude as negative film so you have to nail the exposure but in my Canon AE-1P, there were only a couple of shots that didn't come out or clipped the highlights. At 100 ISO it's definitely not the fastest film ever so make sure you have plenty of light but if you do, it's gorgeous film. No grain. Vibrant colors. Seeing the film roll with what I shot just viewable right there (as opposed to having to scan/reverse) was pretty neat. And the scans I did at home on my EPSON V500 Photo were fantastic. The downside is the film is expensive and the development was about twice the price of negative so I probably won't be shooting too much of this but it's still a lot of fun every once in a while.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fuji Velvia I am still shooting slides and have used up all my from Kodak supplies, forced to buy Fuji and dis-satisfied with the results compared to E100S Kodak. I have to minus 1/3 to 2/3 exposure compensation and add an enhancing filter or polarizer to render saturation of color otherwise the film is lacking in the snap that Kodak had. Very disappointed in Fuji but there is no other option since they put Kodak out of the film business with their governments subsidies. I'll try their other side film but don't expect the same quality as Kodak had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this film!!! Most photographers have moved into digital, but for purity of technique and thoughtfulness in composition there is nothing like film.
