Microboards CopyWriter Pro Reviews

Perfect for Media Departments

It lets me save a master copy on the hard drive directly from my Mac Pro and then burn hundreds of copies at fast speeds. Also great because I can let other people burn CDs from their original CD and still protect my master copies. I have only used it for a few weeks, but so far it runs as described.

I use this to make copies of disks to send to customers. Making up to 200 at a time is a breeze with this machine.

We have clients that request mulitple copies of shows we produce for them. The Microboards DVD Premium Pro 7 duplicator can whip out up to 7 copies of a master DVD in minutes. Easy to use, simple one-touch operation, and the use of Plextor drives with a two-year warranty was the deciding factor in my purchase of this item.

Reliability Not a Microboards Feature

I purchased this unit based on Microboard's reputation and visibility in the pro-audio field. My experience has been completely different. The unit (DVD-PRM-Pro-716) worked satisfactorily for two years before suffering a drive failure which rendered the entire unit unuseable. The out-of-warranty Microboards repair bench charge is a flat rate of $150.00 just to open the case. A $30.00 CD burner fixed the problem and the duplicator worked again, but only for nine months. Again, the duplicator failed in the middle of a major project with an important deadline. A professional colleague rescued the project by allowing me to use his duplicator after hours. Microboard's customer service has been unresponsive, and I am not willing to spend more money on repairs for such an unreliable unit. The best predictor of future performance is past performance, and I would expect this Microboards unit to fail again. I am currently shopping for a new duplicator which is reliable. The entire library of stored CD images will have to be reloaded to the hard drive of the new duplicator! I'm normally intuitive about audio equipment, but this unit has a very un-intuitive user interface which has required me to keep the menu flow chart available almost each time I use the unit. Bottom line: I would NOT recommend a Microboards product to anyone. My business is on-location classical music recording. I used the Microboards duplicator to make CD copies of concerts and other programs.

FORGET THE REST

This is a good product! I had another brand burner, but this one works much better, plus it is easier and has a lot more features for about the same price. The thing that I like the most about this product is that it has a disk counter built in so if u want to make a certain number of disk you can set the counter to that much and it tell you when you completed that amount.

question

Is this Ma compatiable?
Asked by: Anonymous
I'm assuming you mean MAC compatible? We have never used it with a MAC or PC - we simply put a 'master' cd in the top drive and make duplicates.
