The IDX NP-L7S is a 14.6 VDC/4.6 Ah NP-style Li-Ion (Lithium-Ion) battery. With convenient features, practical size, low cost and high-performance characteristics, the NP-L7S is designed to fit just about any application. The NP-L7S features a built-in LED for an instant visual display of battery power status.

High-Grade Cells
Unlike conventional cells that are damaged by fast charging, IDX individually selects and balances each cell for optimum life and performance.
14.6 Volts
Professional camcorders operate on a 12-volt system. As per their design, a majority of camcorders will activate a low voltage warning or even cease to operate when they determine that the battery has fallen below 11-volts. Most equipment manufacturers suggest that a higher voltage battery should be used whenever possible.
Cell Protection
Your investment is protected externally by a tough ABS case and internally by a high temperature battery protection circuit (Auto Reset Temperature breaker type).
Power Status Display
The NP-L7S incorporates a three LED array, for quick and precise indication of the remaining battery capacity.

    NP-L7S NP-Style Lithium-Ion Battery is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good So Far Just received this battery two weeks ago, so these comments are preliminary. This was purchased to replace some dying NP style Nickel Metal Hydride batteries that I have had since 2005. I am using this in my JVC GY-500U Pro Video Camera. Seems to have lots of reserve power. Starts out at 16 volts with a full charge. Stays around 14 - 15 volts for a long time. The LED status indicator helps me know how much charge I have left as I load the battery. Very pleased with this battery so far. Will probably purchase another one before the end of the year. Make sure that your IDX charger is compatible with Lithium Ion as not all models are.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I feel its worth the $ We rely on our equipment, and having confidence to power up what we rely on is just as crucial as the equipment themselves. There are other Li-Ion Np-1's out there, some may be even a hundred bucks less, with similar watt hour specs...but I KNOW these IDX L7's will be dependable for many years. And when the day finally comes where this battery needs replacing, that extra $$or less I spent will be way way WAY long forgotten. What you will get from this battery is many years of worry free confidence with your power. Its worth it, IMHO

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Affordable, vesatile Lithium I have been using these for about 5 years now. One powers my HD monitor. Two power the Varicam. Two in an external holder power other stuff. They are great, economical and the led's give you a quick indicator of power remaining. I have 12 of these and they are my main battery squeeze.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love 'em We own about 100 of these. We're so invested in the NP system: we have np adaptors for all of our cameras, we have innumerable chargers, w/m mounts that attach to the back of the np holders on the back of the camera. we're unable to change to another battery system. it would be too expensive. so we love these batteries. they power the cameras for a very long time. they're light and the charger is light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Industry Standard Anytime you see the blue battery with the green label, you know what's up. This brick battery is the industry standard for location sound mixing bags' BDS systems. These batteries are great because you don't even have to implement the common practice of draining the battery all the way down during its first usage so as to establish the range of the battery life. They last a very long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these batteries!! I have been recording location sound for 27 years and have gone through several different portable power options over the years. This battery is the most reliable product I have found to feed my bag. These batteries come with a higher cost than the competition, but the quality and reliability is well worth the additional investment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from IDX NP-L7S NP-1 LI Battery I use this battery in my 6-year old JVC DV500 video camera to shoot weddings professionally. After going through many NiCad batteries over that time, the LI is the real deal. Where the NiCads had the usual problems with memory and shorter and shorter use times, all I need now are two LI's for the entire job (usually about 4-5 tapes/hours worth). Problems: Yeah, they're expensive ($170 a pop). And you have to keep an eye on the output voltage (if your cam is capable) because when they run out, it is with very little notice. And the charge time is much longer than with the NiCads. Finally, the instructions that came with the batteries tell you to leave them in a discharged state when you're finished with them. But the IDX web site says to charge them up after use. I have found that charging them back up before putting them away is the way to go. The first battery I got started keeping less and less of a charge leaving it discharged between jobs. A word to the wise...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dependable Good battery that gives you power for a long time. Like the power indicator to show how much charge is left. I had two for 6 years, one I managed to kill and the other is still going strong. Just need to make sure you don't store without a charge, they will lose some charge if they are not used for awhile.
