  • 1Description

Protect your investments with this 58mm PRO1 Digital Protector Filter from Hoya, which acts as the first line of defense for your lens. As a clear filter, it is designed to have no impact on your image quality and has no light loss. A digital multi-coating helps optimized image quality by preventing flash and ghosting while black rimmed glass minimizes the chances of edge reflections. Also, this filter has a low profile matte black aluminum frame with 58mm front filter threads and knurled sides. Additionally, it comes with a UV-protected filter case.

Clear filter offers general protection for your lens.
Does not require adjustments to exposure while in use.
Digital multi-coating prevents internal ghosting and reflections.
Creates no additional coloration or contrast.
General protection filter reduces dust, moisture, and scratches from reaching lens elements.
Thin, lightweight aluminum-alloy almite filter ring helps to prevent vignetting and reflections.
Black rimmed glass limits edge reflections.
Knurled sides provide a more textured grip when mounting or removing it from a lens.
58mm front filter threads allow for use with other filters.
UV-protected plastic case for storage and transport.

    Hoya XD58PROTEC reviews

58mm PRO1 Digital Protector Filter is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 42.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, economical protective filter This is a decent protective filter. It protects the front of my lens without noticeably degrading image quality. It does not filter out UV light, but (as I understand it) that should not make much difference for digital anyway (auto or custom white balance settings should compensate for the effects of most color-adjustment filters). As long is this filter is substantially less expensive than corresponding UV/skylight filters, it makes a good choice for digital cameras.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Exactly as described. No noticeable distortion or color shift. Crystal clear and well made. I bought this to protect a Panasonic Lumix Vario-G 12-35 w/OIS for field shooting. My equipment really takes a beating so I wanted something to protect the expensive lens investment. I got two of these so if anything ever happens a 30$ replacement saves my $1000 lens! It's front threaded also so I have a lens hood screwed onto it and it works perfect. I absolutely love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must for your Lens I looked at many brands of filter before having decided to get this Hoya filter. I didn't want to get any cheap filter either. So after thorough research I bought this filter for my olympus lens in May for our Mexico trip mainly for protection of my expensive lens. I was afraid that it would have affected the outcome for the worse then I would be in trouble with my Bride. I tested it at home before the trip and after the trip I couln't be any happier. The pictures come out vividly colorful and very real. The water (ocean) came out beautifully blue and green as if you are there next to it. (This was with my Olympus E30 camera). Totally recommend this filter to anyone who owns and wants to protect his/her expensive lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good enough for all practical purposes I started buying the Hoya Pro1 Digital filters when they first came out, and have a lot of them. Now that Hoya has moved on to different models, the Pro1's are frequently attractively priced. *If* you're going to use a protection filter (won't get in the argument about *that*), these are optically excellent and mechanically good enough (yes, B+W would be better). And on those rare occasions when you want the absolute most your lens can produce, take it off, if you like. Personally, I'd rather clean the front of the filter than the front of the lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Protection I recently got a Canon Rebel T3i as a gift. I got 2 lenses with the camera & even though they are not top of the line - I do not want to replace either one. This Pro 1 Clear Filter is great for my lenses. I bought 2 so I can leave them on my lenses at all times. Took over 200 pictures at my granddaughter's 3rd birthday party this past weekend. It was outside at a park & windy. The filter worked great - no effect on the quality of the pictures & I was easily able to clean the dust off the filter instead of worrying about the lens

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic quality Living in FL, I am around wind and sand a lot. After having a lens sand-blasted and ruined in the past, I began using UV filters for the protection I needed in those conditions. After recently purchasing a Fuji X E2 with 18 - 55mm lens, I decided to try this filter for the protection I needed. I shot several test images both with and without the filter and can see no image quality difference. This filter appears to be the best protection money can buy. It sure will be cheaper to replace than a new lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Protection Living in FL, I am around wind and sand alot. After having a lens sandblasted in the past, I began using UV filters for protection for my lenses in those conditions. When I purchased a new Fuji X E2 with 18 - 55mm, I decided to try this filter for the protection I needed. I can say this filter is amazing. I shot repeated test images both with and without the filter. I can see no difference in image quality. This is the best protective filter I have seen. It is a lot cheaper than a new lens

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it says I put this filter on about .25 seconds after first taking the lens cap off my new lens. The filter feels solid and is crystal clear. I haven't experienced any flaring, reflections, or any other optical aberrations after shooting 1,000 frames through this. I should say that I have it on a 50mm lens and there is no vignetting from the frame of this filter, as would be expected. I'd definitely recommend this filter for protection; it's much cheaper than the lens.
