Protect your investments with this 77mm PRO1 Digital Protector Filter from Hoya, which acts as the first line of defense for your lens. As a clear filter, it is designed to have no impact on your image quality and has no light loss. A digital multi-coating helps optimized image quality by preventing flash and ghosting while black rimmed glass minimizes the chances of edge reflections. Also, this filter has a low profile matte black aluminum frame with 77mm front filter threads and knurled sides. Additionally, it comes with a UV-protected filter case.

Thin, lightweight aluminum-alloy almite filter ring helps to prevent vignetting and reflections.
Black rimmed glass limits edge reflections.
Knurled sides provide a more textured grip when mounting or removing it from a lens.

    Hoya XD77PROTEC reviews

77mm PRO1 Digital Protector Filter is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 98.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Incredibly Clear, Not Easy to Clean I use this product on a Sony EX1 and couldn't be happier with the quality of this filter and peace of mind it provides. No issues with unwanted reflections, apparently due to the multi-coated-ness. The only problem I could raise with these filters is that I don't know how to clean them. The multi-coating is actually kind of coarse, and the friction precludes usual wiping motions, making the filter extremely difficult to clean. My efforts to remove water stains failed, and only served to make larger blemishes. So, if you're a poor bum like me and like to clean and reuse your filters, you're kinda out of luck here. If, on the other hand, you go through filters like so much kleenex, you've got a great product here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NICE!! Great filter!! I purchased this for a 12-24mm Tokina. I decided to go with a clear over a UV for my new wide lens because I wanted to see if I would get more natural colors. I won't be able to tell unless I order a UV filter to use on the same lens... but compared to the pictures on 50mm prime which has a UV filter, the colors seem to be slightly more crisp. As far as the build quality goes... You can definitely tell the difference between this filter and the over priced cheapo plastic Quantaray and Tiffen filters. I also have a B+W filter and while they both are high quality glass, the construction of the metal ring looks a not more solid on the Hoya. I also found the Hoya to cost significantly less. Overall, I'm very happy with Hoya and will probably buy it as my filter of choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Lens Saver! I had already thought this filter to be terrific for its low profile, but then it went way beyond that: The main reason I use a filter is to protect my lens, and my Hoya filter did just that. I was on vacation and using a public restroom, and I hung my camera bag on the hook on the back of the door, and it fell off hitting the floor. My camera was in my bag lens down so it was my Hoya filter that took the brunt of the impact. The filter shattered but my lens was protected and still perfectly fine. I'll be getting a new filter to replace it, but had it not been for the filter I would have to be replacing my lens right now. This filter saved me A LOT of money! I recommend everyone get one today!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Protects in radical environments While I don't always keep these filters on I definitely do when I am photographing in extreme conditions such as Africa (where I photograph annually). I don't mind the extra need to clear the dust off when compared to the risk I would take in this unpredictable environment. My Nikon 24-70 and 70-200 f/2.8G lenses need the protection from time to time that this excellent filter provides. The build and coating quality produce no discernible effect on IQ.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent lens protection I've been using clears now as lens protector on my Nikkors(vs. UV) for digital for the last few yrs. The Pro 1 performs this job perfectly and consistently - you'd never know it was there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only Glass Filter I Will Use Already had this filter on all my Canon lenses because to the camera it's like it's not even there with no distortions of any kind. A gust of 30mph wind hit my tripod at the White Pocket in AZ and I wasn't quick enough to catch it as the lens hit the slick rock glass first! The Hoya shattered and the lens needed a little work but now with the new Hoya and lens repair it's like new again. Best clear filter going.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect filter for ultra wide-angle lens Perfect filter for ultra wide-angle lens. This filter is so thin, that there will be no vignetting and it will maximize the effect of the hood on your ultra wide lens.I read review for other thin filter and there are a lot of them that people complain that they don't have thread in front of the filter. Hoya is not one of those. The filter is so thin that thread is not going as far as regular filter, but it is enough to catch lens cap.It is a very well built filter, and I will buy this series filters for my wide angle lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Glass I don't notice any change in my image quality. Although there's many expensive alternatives out there, this is a very good quality built product if you're a hobbyist like me & just want an extra protection for your lens.
