    Hoya XD82PROTEC reviews

82mm PRO1 Digital Protector Filter is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A high quality filter worth the money! Great product. Well designed, high quality and easy to install. Allows use of OEM lens cap. Cheap insurance to protect expensive lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Class Quality 82mm Clear Pro A bit more expensive than non-coated but well worth the extra money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not surprised to find that it was discontinued. I have used Hoya Pro1d 77mm filters for all of my nikkor lenses (70-200vr, 28-70f/2.8) with NO problems. I often shoot around children and they have tendency to come up and touch the front of the lens, so I need fingerprint guard... That being said, I got the Pro1d 82mm for my Nikon 24-70VR lens and I noticed two things. Even though Hoya toots their thin ring for being anti-vignetting, I saw vignetting (pretty severe) at 24mm. When I took the filter off, vignetting was gone. More troubling was that when I took photos of high-contrasting borders, there were purple fringes around white lines. it was so tiny that most people wouldn't notice it, but it gave overall soft look to images. I took the filter off and noticed razor-sharp images (once 24-70vr had focal point calibration). Pretty disappointed in this filter, and decided to return it and get the B+W. I wanted to warn others, but noticed that it has already been discontinued (with no replacement listed).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good lens protection This filter does what it is supposed to do. It protects the front lens element from smears, dust, etc., without introducing any degredation I can detect to the image produced by my Canon 5D Mk II. It attaches easily and appears to be well made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very good product again and again. In the Digital era you can get almost every filter you need from software, or from your camera menu. So it is most important to protect the front lens element with A good clear optics, thin for wide angle that you can add filter, or lens cover.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hoya Clear Pro 1 Digital Glass Filter I need the best glass available to protect my expensive lenses; the glass in the lenses is very good, so why would I used anything but the best glass possible in a filter? I think this is the right answer. Worth every penny, and then some!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value. Performs as expected. I have several of these in different sizes to maintain consistency among my lenses. This one was purchased for my Fujinon MK 18-55 cine zoom.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No vignetting on UWA lenses; Dust magnet I use this filter on a Canon 16-35mm Mk2 lens. It generates no vignetting at the wide end and protects the lens. However, it's a dust magnet.
