Hoya XD52CRPL overview

  • 1Description

The Hoya Pro 1 Digital Circular Polarizer takes advantage of Hoya's patented optical glass technology to create a hardened glass that is thinner than the normal optical glass. This allows the overall thickness of the filter to be reduced to avoid vignetting when used with ultra-wide angle lenses.

Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.

Note: Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems and video cameras without problems); Pro 1 Digital filters are ultra thin but have a front thread

Digital Cameras Need Multi-Coated Filters
Digital camera CCD or CMOS sensors are highly susceptible to reflections. This stray light can ruin your photographs! Don't risk your valuable photos by using bare-glass filters
Digital Multi-Coated
Digital multi-coated filters greatly reduce the appearance of lens flare and ghosting caused by reflections
Black Almite Frame
Filters feature a black matte aluminum satin finish Almite frame which reduces reflections
Black Rimmed Glass
These filters are equipped with black rimmed glass to reduce the chance of light reflecting off the edge
Low Profile Frame
Ultra thin filter frames to help avoid vignetting on super wide angle lenses are also designed to hold a lens cap
Knurling Edge Frame
These filters are equipped with a straight knurling edge for non-slip, easy attachment and removal
UV Protected Case
Filter cases are UV protected to further lengthen the life of filters
Effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter
Polarizing filters do not affect the overall color balance of a shot
The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun

    Hoya XD52CRPL reviews

52mm Circular Polarizing Pro 1Digital Multi-Coated Glass Filter is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product and Good Value I purchased this to use on my new Lumix DMC-FZ150. The optics are great and do not detract from image quality. This is a really important point. I researched this product at the Hoya Website before purchase. Hoya pointed out that their filters are designed for easy removal. The filter really is easy to remove! I have used less expensive filters over the years that really require extra effort to remove. No problems at all installing or removing this filter. The FZ150 has a 24mm equivalent wide angle lens. This filter does not vignette wide angle photos on my camera. Good Product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job! It goes on easy enough. It's very thin & I don't see any vignetting on my Nikon DX 18-55mm kit lens even though I use it over the uv filter (this filter is very thin too). Seems like very good quality for the price. It has been getting stuck when trying to get it off again, but I just put a rubber band in my bag that will allow me to grip the inner ring & turn it so I can remove it. I may try an even more expensive/fancy one when I am in the market for my next camera!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from polarizer The Hoya circular polarizer, in my opinion, is the most used filter for landscape photography that is available. It removes reflections which increases color saturation and better clarity and contrast. Bottom line, it makes the sky blue darker and the clouds brighter. I feel that it is a filter that every photography should have. You can see the effect just by rotating the filter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked as expected It was easy to put on and remove. Screwed into the Hoya UV filter I had on the camera for quick on/off. I used it with taking pictures through windows and at museum with glass glare/reflection and helped to provide a more clear image. Outside in sunlight it produced nice sharp images. Better with good lighting due to image darkening. Nice thin frame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Filter on my Nikon D3300 I've got the Hoya Polarizing Pro1 filter on the 18-55mm lens on my Nikon D3300. The filter fits perfectly onto the lens, just as you'd expect, and I haven't had any issues using the lens' standard cover with it. All of the pictures appear clear and vivid, as you'd expect, without any distortion near the edges.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly What I Needed My Hoya 52mm Circular Poarizing Pro-1 filter shipped quickly, arrived as expected, and is exactly what I needed to help bring out the color of the sky and eliminate glare from bodies of water. It's a great value and I would highly recommend this filter to anyone looking for a circular polarizer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good moderately priced circular polariizing filter This filter is an excellent moderately priced polarizing filter. One could spend a lot more and gain an additional f-stop but price & quality & how it will be used are determining factors for me and this filter hits the spot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality I purchased this polarizing filter after reading all the reviews. This filter by Hoya had the highest scores. I plan to use it when I travel to Costa Rica this summer. Trusted quality and useful for my needs.
