This is not a good design for a mouse pad. It is much too light, with no density in the construction to keep it from easily moving about on a flat surface. I'm returning it for a refund.

This is my mousepad. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My mousepad is my best friend, it is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my mousepad is useless. Without my mousepad, I am useless.
Jokes aside, I've had two of these acting as a deskpad for around four months. There's no fraying or slipping, and while it initially smelled bad in the way a new car smells bad, that went away after about two or three days.
For three dollars this is probably the best mousepad you can get and is perfectly fine. If you want better tracking then you need to shop at a higher price point.

The Belkin Standard Mousepad (Gray) BH #BEF8E081GRY does not have a chemical smell.
