    Sigma 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 reviews

70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Lens for Sony and Minolta Cameras is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly good lens If this is the APO lens that I have, the images are sharper and more colorful than I expected (especially for this price). The lens is not too heavy, but has a quality feel (I like the EX coating on the outside of the body). Sometimes it has some auto-focusing issues at the 200-300 range (I just back off, lock focus and zoom back). I have similar problems with my other Sigmas + A-100 (it might be the camera also). Even so, the pictures are great, the price is great and I highly recommend. On a bright day, I am able to get very sharp hand-held photos of GT race cars at a 90 degree angle, even at 300 zoom.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I Like It! You can't beat the lens for an affordable zoom. I haven't had any problems with the auto focus or performance. It's well made, and takes a nice crisp photo. I've been having a lot of fun with it. The macro setting lets you focus from a bit closer, and does nicely shooting things like flowers or bugs. It is not really so good for up close things like for instance shooting still shots of crystals and stones, you have to get too far back from things to shoot. But then, it's pretty tough to get one lens that does EVERYTHING. For the price, this is a pretty decent lens for your bag. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just add Tripod and....voila'!!! Bought mine here (BH) and just put it through a 3 day shoot that covered Nevada from border to border. A Tripod A Must! But you know that. From pulling in the most distant, shadowed mountains to up close and personal with the vivid roadside blooms, I had no worries w/this lens. Can you pay more? Sure. But would you get more

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Something small covers so much I live on an 80 acre farm. I see alot of surises and sunsets. I am always taking pictures of everything. Turkeys, deer, dogs, grandkids. There are times I don't want the kids and grandkids to know they are getting their picture takin. This way I can get shots of what they are doing, without them knowing. My 5 year old granddaughter got her first camera for christmas. A couple of days later, she with her new camera and myself with my camera and knew lense, took a hike into the woods. We took picture of everything. It was a great day. I got to spend time with my granddaughter, who likes taking pictures just like me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why buy from anywhere else?? The world at the fingertips and this is always the best place to shop online - period. Great price, great shots....fantastic clarity. Don't know if I have a great steady hand or what but this is used with a Sony a290 and I have been using it everyday for a week and still haven't had an issue with shake. Never had the need to use with tripod yet. I've only marked a few Best uses simply because I haven't had the chance yet to try them all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Honest value to performance product I am an amature/hobby photographer. I wanted a lens to do some macro work with in the zoom setting but didnt want to spend alot of money on a lens I wouldnt use that much. This lens fit into the price range I was willing to spend considering my usage and purpose of the lens. I was actually quite surprised with the outcome of the lens. Not having much experience to draw from or to compare with, this lens actually did exactly what I wanted. Amazing results!! The macro zoom setting on this lens in video mode is exactly what I was looking for. Riveting video on detail I never imagined. Things that arent so great? I guess the zoom mechanism feels abit like small sand got in there....but I didnt care because I bought the lens for what it would look like and not feel like. Bottom line...satisfied.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Compact and powerful This lens is great for taking pictures of flowers with the macro. Works very well with my Sony A100, no tripoid required. Sony lens does not combine macro & telephoto at the right price like this Sigma.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Ever Sigma Lens Purchase I have a few Sony Brand A-mount lenses, 2 bought from B&H. This is my first Sigma purchase. This Sigma 70-300mm was on backorder, so I put it on the B&H email notification alert list. I ordered it the day I was notified. This lens is probably the best bargain you can get on any telephoto lens out to 300mm. This lens gives you macro beginning at 200mm and 300mm focal length. And it isn't just macro, it is a general purpose lens as well. If you are afraid of cheap lenses, be not of this one. It is not a top notch Sony A-mount lens, so don't expect the same exact sharpness. If the lens was on backorder, that alone should tell you something. I would recommend this lens for any DSLR camera mount that Sigma makes. Be it Canon, Nikon, Pentax, etc.
