Featuring an apochromatic designation, this lens's optical design employs three Special Low Dispersion elements to virtually eliminate chromatic aberrations and color fringing for high clarity and color accuracy. A multi-layer coating is also used to control ghosting and flare for improved contrast when working in bright and backlit conditions. Additionally, a nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Telephoto zoom is designed for full-frame Sony A-mount cameras, however it is also suitable for APS-C models where it will provide a 105-450mm equivalent focal length range.
Ideal for macro shooting, this lens offers a dedicated Macro position for a half of life-size 1:2 maximum magnification along with a minimum focusing distance of 3.1' to suit working with close-up subjects.
Apochromatic optical design utilizes three Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements to significantly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for increased clarity and color fidelity.
