Foma 400 Action reviews

Fomapan 400 Action Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 100' Roll) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Foma film is a hidden jewel For over forty years I have been involved in traditional photography, one way or another. I had never heard of Foma, and Tri-X was my film of choice. About three years ago I began taking photography classes at the university level, therefore, began researching ways to cut expenses so, I tried Foma. The result was that of disbelief. It is almost impossible to shoot a roll of Foma and not get the results that you anticipate. It is the best film I have ever used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I hoped for We continue to teach traditional film photography at our school and occasionally experiment with different films, papers, and chemicals. This film produces great contrast and sharpness. The only drawback for us is that there are no numbers along the perforations of the film. Keeping a record of the negatives is a little difficult when compiling a portfolio.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great film My first time bulk loading my own film and first time using fomapan. I love the range of tones and smoothness of the grain. Looks awesome in lower lighting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite 400 speed film I bulk load my own; Foma 400 has good film speed, about 300 for me, holds shadows very well without blocking highlights, very low base fog. Using a pyro developer, I get very sharp, even grain structure. No curl while drying. I generally shoot in quite contrasty light so it works well for me. Not so much for newer versions of old favorites in my experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tried this for the first time Bulk-loading film is new for me and thought I'd get my first experience using the Fomapan 400 B&W negative film. I am very impressed with the results! Just follow the recommended developing times and temperature provided in the paperwork. And yes, it scans well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lovely I love this Czech film, the tones, texture, grain and contrast are very peculiar, and better if developed with strong Rodinal. The only downside is that I feel it has less latitude underexposed (about a f/stop) compared with Tri-x.
